The judges will be the House Summit.

--------------

“Buck up! The Summit has called us to action, and we will present ourselves plainly. Take nothing you don’t need, or don’t want to carry for a couple days. Pack warm, and prepare for a fight,” the Sergeant, Vodo, paced up and down the transport.

The Gallofree Medium Transport, named Odin by the clan, made its way slowly to the frozen world of Kaltace. For several days already, it had steamed on sublight drives only, allowing the passengers to prepare mentally and physically for the demanding challenge before them. The assembled Battleteams aboard the Odin were each in their own specially prepared orbital drop pods, separated from the rest of the teams by a meter of durasteel plating and a few more meters of vacuum.

“We’ll likely be on world for several days. Pack some stoves, small rations, and any weapons you find prudent. The Pod has a weapons locker in back”, a small shuffle accompanied the noise a few non-light saber users as they reached for blasters and grenades.

The House Summit had called for Battleteams to prove themselves, in light of the approaching Great Jedi War. The victor of this contest would lead the clan in the War, and hopefully to victory as well. The Battleteams would be dropped from orbit onto the planet, and would have to survive on world without support until all other battleteams had been defeated. The Odin would observe from orbit, monitoring the vital signs of every Tyro, Flight Member, and Trooper with topical inserts that had been placed on the candidates.

“Battleteam Phoenix, three minutes to release. Assume your seats, and strap in tightly” a voice came over a concealed loudspeaker, warning them of their imminent drop.

“You heard it Boys and Girls. Strap in, hold on tight, and no one, NO ONE, lose their lunch”

"Phoenix Phyle " Bubbles muttered under her breath as she strapped herself in, looking up and down the pod to check the rest of her team was doing the same.

She winked at Dark Sabre sat opposite her, "This should be fun, think they can handle it? Oh, and if we come across Betja - he's mine! It's time someone reminded that boy how to use a lightsabre properly!"

Fingering the medallion hanging around her neck she turned to the rest of the Phyle, "So, anything I need to know about anyone before we get into trouble?" she grinned, "Anyone scared of the dark?"

Lauria Ballard

Lauria smirked lightly hearing the question. During the acolyte’s short record of membership in Taldryan she memorized a few faces even though she was not introduced to them personally. She had seen the brown-red haired lady from a distance several times, and heard others referring to her “Bubbles”. Her aura of dark powers was comforting, helping the young Acolyte concentrate on the task ahead.

Ballard turned her sight back to the view outside of the window that she was sitting at. Frozen wastelands of Kaltace dominated the scenery. Far off in the distance massive mountains grew larger as the shuttle approached. About an hour ago they had passed a sea or ocean; Gintaqui was the name. Lauria always liked to be nearby water, she also enjoyed cold or at least chilly weather a lot better than hot summer. She closed her eyes for a moment bringing back from her memory the picture of the ocean; frozen surface – so treachery. With enough weight it could break under an unwise walker, bringing him doom and death in the cold waters. That mental picture of drowning people brought joy to Lauria’s heart.

She released the air from her lungs, just now realizing she was holding it up. She was more than ready now to face whatever was put before her. She checked again her weaponry. On her right arm, from the elbow down to the wrist, Lauria had attached her most favorite weapon. Vibro claws. There were five individual, extremely sharp claws, 7 inches in length. A matching set of claws were attached to her left arm as well. A long vibro sword hung on her back.

Not only she was ready but also her equipment was. With calm yet excitement she awaited the landing.

Avenged

Avenged sat with her Sith sword at her side twideling her thumbs. She was not affraid of the dark and laughed a little when Bubbs asked the rhetorical question. She loved the cold and had spent some time training on Hoth in her Impreial days but this was Kaltace, it was differant, but she was happy to have her friends around her even those she knew little of.

She wished that she had a lightsaber most of her companions carried one and she felt like her sword was a burdon she need not carry. As the pod prepared to land she brought her stuff together and let out a sigh. Waiting was always the hardest part...

Vodo grinned, baring his wickedly sharp yellow teeth. Years of mistreatment and terrible food had rotted them and his Twi'lek ancestory had naturally sharpened them into a menacing sight, "Thank you Bubbles, Phoenix Phyle, prepare for drop."

Over the comm, the voice announced, "10 seconds to drop. May the Dark Side guide you..."

With everyone tightly roped into the chairs and bulkheads of the drop pod, the Team was suddenly jolted about. The artificial gravity of the Odin dissappeared, and was replaced by the weightlessness of space. The Drop pod, free of any external viewports or sensors, tumbled towards the atmosphere of the Frozen Planet, and finally touched the fringes of the barrier. The exterrior began to heat the armored hull to a deep cherry red, until finally the chutes deployed, and caught friction of the atmosphere to slow the descent enough for the weak repulsorlifts to find a suitable landing zone.

When one was identified by the onboard navidroid, the drop pod touched down with a heavy thud. The Knight had trouble grasping the clasp of his harness, to undo his seatbelt, and found his hands to be trembling from excitment. It seemed to be a recognizable syndrom on the faces of everyone of the Battleteam members.

"That was... Fun?", Swaresu-Dyas spoke up.

Next to him, a green faced Dark Sabre stood up, and ran to a corner of the drop pod, where he proceeded to release the contents of his stomacch onto the wall and floor. Before the stench could fill the small pod, Vodo slammed the release on the pod's escape hatch and hopped down into the deep snow.

"Come on kids! Think you feel bad? I bet Hex feels the same way, so lets start pounding some snow and beat them to finding us." Vodo waved his arms for them to join him outside.

The slowly rising sun made the morrow sky as grey as the mists towering over the distanced chains of mountains. Lauria couldn’t wait to get out of the pod, feel the cold and ice upon her own skin. Even though she had never been claustrophobic, the relatively small pod made her feel lightheaded for a while. Judging over her new companions, she wasn’t alone in that.

The acolyte inhaled the cold air that quickly filled her lungs. Enjoying the chilly sensation she looked around. Except the still smoking pod there was no trace of anybody around. Deep snow was covering every inch of the surface. Lauria had no idea even where to begin or how to track down Hex. Fortunately, others did.

That was something she was eager to learn. To track down people, beasts, recognize paths, being able to make her way through even the worst imaginable type of climate, and on top of that – survive and still be well. Growing on board of a star ship did not provide her with such knowledge. Now was the time, and the opportunity.

Looking up she caught sight of Vodo motioning them forward, following her team mates she took her first steps in that pursuit.

Shouldering her pack, Bubbs absent-mindedly checked her sabre. Waiting for everyone else to leave the pod, she smiled sympathetically at Dark Sabre, "See, that's what a lack of ice-cream'll do to you." Once everyone was off she secured the pod and hurried to catch up to Vodo and the others.

"So, Vodo, how'd you want to do this? Seems like a good chance for some training to me? I'm happy to watch our backs if you and DS want to teach these guys a thing or two about tracking....tho I'm sure the state he's in they might do better teaching him."

(OOC: great going guys, at this rate it looks like we might just have a BT fit to rival the old Betja/Aragorn/Lannie days! I'vwe got exams starting in a few days so won't be around much, but feel free to use me as you see fit ;) )

The Sergeant, that should be a Tetrarch, glanced to the horizon across a plain of emptiness and snow, then back to Bubbles, "Actually, I would like you and Dark Sabre to take point. As it stands, you two are more experianced and more adept at finding Hex. I'll take up the rear, with the Tyros in the middle."

Bubbles nodded her ackowledgment, and Vodo felt as she shot Dark Sabre a telepathic message with their instructions. Vodo was no longer new to the Battleteam, but was by no means fully immersed. He could not wait until he could share a mind link like the long time friends of the Team could. He and Queastor Sklib of Dinaari had once upon a time shared a mind link in combat, but distance and time had eroded it's effectivness slightly.

"Alright, Phoenix, Saddle up! Bubbles, take the lead! Everyone else, follow closely. I don't want anyone straying from the pack, going off course, or running ahead. Kaltace is a bad place, nothing like the jungles of Taruma."

The Phyle moved out, the two equites cutting a path through the snow, and every consequtive member following in thier foot prints, to avoid losing their own strength in a battle against the snow. They travled in a single file to avoid clustering, and to cut through the harsh wind more effectivly. Vodo was not sure who started it, but one person began to hum the opening chorus of an Ektrosian Battle Tune. Soon, two more joined in, and someone else began to sing the worlds. Vodo grinned under the shall that hid his face from the cold air, and joined in on the number. Soon, the entire team, including the notoriously quite Dark Sabre was yelling the Battle Cry at the top of their lungs. The Team seemed to find a second wind in this maner, invigorating their steps.

Following Bubbles’ steps Lauria shook her head lightly.

I might not know much about tracking, but is shouting aloud really going to help us take Hex by surprise?, she thought. The acolyte stopped looking what was ahead, focusing more on the areas to the west and east from them. Something wasn’t right; a faint sensation at the back of her head was sending a reminder of cautiousness.

The group advanced forwards still singing. Lauria wasn’t. The feeling was getting more intensive with every step they made. She couldn’t tell if she was the only one sensing it, and others’ senses were not focused enough because of the battle cry? She looked over her companions. Dark Sabre was not singing either. The wrinkles on his forehead and nose betrayed his thoughts. Ballard was sure he knew something was wrong and that it was not just her imagination. Bubbles looked around carefully as if she sensed something as well. The song was getting quieter and quieter. Now everyone clearly could tell that even though all they could see before them was snow, there was something more in this seemingly abandoned and uncivilized world. Perhaps something nobody expected earlier to be there. Or was that Hex lurking around and waiting for the right moment?

The open surface of the planet was getting tighter as team was making its way to a passage between two mountain peaks. There was no other good option where to go next, and nobody wanted to end up being called a coward for suggesting going back the path they came. Nobody would also admit that such a thought might have passed their minds.
“Doesn’t look like there is another way around this passage”, Lauria did not know that person rather then seeing him a couple of times before in the Ektrosis Temple. His words were an obvious truth. Everybody kind of agreed to that, either by muttering a “yeah” under their breaths or just nodding. The not so fruitful debate was rudely interrupted as the first shot came out of nowhere, burning a hole in the snow right in front of Bubbles’ feet.

All pair of eyes turned into the passage direction. Whoever had a lightsaber, it already was in their hands, activated or about to be. Now that they looked more intensively, everyone could notice that there were quite massively looking caves curved in the walls of the mountains.

Bubbs nodded to DS and grinned back at the rest of the Tyros behind them, between the two of them just about managing to deflect the blaster fire that had started peppering the group.

"So, what do you boys and girls think we should do? Me and Dark Sabre will watch your backs, but the main part of the fight is up to you....just don't take all day deciding, something tells me whatever's up there is just playing with us at the moment."

Vodo

"Lauria and Avenged, get low, start picking your targets, don't worry about suppressing anything. Swaresu and Corpus, make that hill side a hellfire, don't bother aiming!" Vodo looked for his next instructions and found them quickly, "Hav, you ready to run? On my command, get ready to sprint into the pass, don't stop, or look around, just run. You understand me?"

Everyone, a little distracted already carrying out his orders, or trying to cover their head acknowledged his authority. Vodo's violet light sabre weaved through the air, creating an impenetrable barrier against which no blaster bolts could pass. His master of the defensive art of Soresu ensured this. As he extended his reach into the Force, Vodo could sense the Tyros attacking them upon the barren hillside, and was able to redirect incoming blaster bolts back at them.

Lauria and Avenged dug into the snow, and began choosing their targets, preparing to snipe the enemy attackers, while Swaresu and Corpus were going wild, laying a stream of energy fire onto the hillside. The attacks, while pretty much harmless, were creating a lot of distraction, and steam on the enemy's part. Hav was taking cover behind Vodo, ready to sprint at a moments notice, his backpack laying in the snow, to not weigh him down any further.

Bubbles and Dark Sabre, also armed with Sabers created the Vanguard of the force, protecting the teams' flanks. Their Blue and Purple blades each danced about, and created a pair of reflective batteries, from which enemy fire could be turned against it's owners.

"We're ready Sergeant" Lauria announced

"Good, commence fire..."
