Hey there!
I'm Ektrosis' new House Envoy, so I'm supposed to make sure any newbies find their way around
I know a lot of new members like to chat on the boards so this topic is specifically for Ekky's newbies to introduce themselves to the other members of the house and ask any questions.
You can ask anything you like, and if anyone laughs at your questions, I'll hit them with a fish

Hey guys, I'm the newbie. One quick question: Can anyone help me with IRC? I have it downloaded and installed, but the message "Software caused connection abortion" shows up when I try to connect, even on the web version. I think my school's firewall is blocking IRC. If anyone can help me with that, I'd really appreciate it.

Hey Hav, welcome to Tal. Good to see you're trying to get on IRC... I dunno if this will help, but I found this when googling:
# Disable winxp's firewall.
# Don't use port 6667 to connect to a network. Most networks have a range of ports, usually within 6660-6669,7000-7001 and you can specify a port with /server some.server.here:7000.
Those are two things you can try... we'll have to find someone more technically adept to give you a hand.

Hmm. Play around your firewall.
My virus software was blocking the connection, so I just turned that feature off. IRC works fine now. Thanks for the help guys.

You were probably rogued because an AWOL check was ran and you didn't respond, but all you have to do is log into the DB site and submit for a transfer back into Ekky

That's all you really need to get settled in, here's your hall pass and your official "Taldryan Rocks!" badge. Hi! I feel like a newbie, though I'm not. I've been gone some two years now and decided to come back at least for the the GJW.
I used to be in Ekky...Phoenix! If I remember correctly I was envoy at one point...I know I was envoy in CSP for awhile. I was also in the Master/Student Program in CSP.
Once I get familiarized again I'll be in better shape to help people out and such, but for now HELP!!!!!!!!
