Lech

20-04-2005 08:35:43

Well, I'm 24, but yeah, there are a lot of people in high school. If and when I get married, I'll have a bastard of a time trying to be as active as they are.

26, took a few years of college... I'd probably have an associates if I took another class or two, a bachelors after a year and a half or two. The field I am in, however, doesn't pay any better with a degree.

You stopped the age at 30, but degrees go up to PHD :D

Way too many choices.

I'm 30, have a degree in Computer Animation/Multimedia Development. I need to go back to school.

I know a couple people who have PHD's, which kind of depresses me that my field can't really go there without getting into things I have no interest in.

Lol, I really don't think there are any ten year olds in the DB.

Kaine Mandaala

20-04-2005 17:57:59

Actually you'd be surprised. The unofficial poll I had on the DJB site a while back showed that the majority of the membership was 15-18 with a small margin of the remaining members being under 12.

Lol a small percentage under twelve, and the majority 15-18. I didn't see that coming.

What I always find wierd is the people who I feel act and spell like they're about 12 usually end up being in their thirties and married with kids, while the people who seem all mature normally turn out to be about 13.

Odd.

I moderate on a forum for BFV, and the system has the function to display age based on birthdate. Now - I know people could lie about it - but it does seem that the guys who SAY they are 29 post crap like:
"OMFG! L@@K @ T3H SKREENSHIOT I JSUT TOOK OF T3H TANK LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
:lukevader:   :sorcerer:  :alien:  :flower:     :on2long:  :santa:  :lightsaber:  :lightsaber:

And I find that the people who spell the worst are American. Truly frightening. I often wonder if they speak the way they type.

Not that anyone cares, but I'm 28, and have some college. Trying to go back to finish, but it's pretty hard working the hours I do (Network Engineer for a major US telecom company) and dealing with a wife, a three year old and a two month old... ;)

Hey Kaine, visit a southern American state and just listen to those people talk. You'll get your answer. Hehehe.....

I mostly find it embarrassing that it's the American's that can't spell. I blame government and their lack of school funding. I also blame those adults who teach their kids to talk like they do :P Thank God I'm no parent yet.

As annoying as poor spelling is, I have to admit that it is not tied to any mark of intellect. Being able to spell well just means you can memorize the methodology to spell. And in this day and age of spell check, it isn't a big deal 99% of the time.

That being said, I still think it's annoying. And I think it's embarassing when English majors are incapable of spelling "the." As a grader/reader for a Lit class, I have read a plethora of essays that have crap like "teh," "durt," "wator," etc...

Anonymous

One time, for some reason, I "kinda" how to spell "the".

I mean I spelled it right, typed it in a sentence, and everything, but for some freakin reason it didn't look right. I was sure it was correct, but it didn't appear to be so. It just looked wrong for some reason. Don't ask. :P

Anyways, I'm 19 and I have a GED. I'm currently in a Bachelor's Degree program for Digital Entertainment & Game Design with a minor in Multimedia.

It's important because it makes you look stupid if you get it wrong. Grammar is even worse. Despite the wonders of education, we still have a sign on the umbrella stand in my entrance hall at work that says "Umbrella's" :@

There was a whole site devoted to the misuse of an apostrophe. People would submit pics of all the wonderful ways other people screwed up.

I'm 23, and just got out of university. Fortunately, I was insane BEFORE going there, so it didn't screw up my mind too much. It emptied my bank account nicely though, and I'm indebted to my student loan organization pretty much forever. Fun.

Good luck Warhunter!

Insanity pretty much comes with university territory. Least ways that is what I've seen. I'm only sixteen, (Seventeen in October) a sphomore at one of the wierdest high schools in the USA. Hil Hi.
