Why The Madness...?

Darkness always comes in the middle of the night.
By that I do not mean the mere absence of light.
Most people will deny my words, and I would blame them not.
I do, however, know what haunts them in their thought.
I know what hunts our sanity when the sunlight fades.
Most of us can’t see, for in day time THEY lurk in shades.
At night when you lie in bed. You know, you feel THEY’RE there.
Eyes are always watching and soon you know THEY’RE everywhere.

Afraid to speak of THEM, we muddle through our lives.
Oblivious of the fact that THEY hunt us with their eyes.
When we think a person dies peacefully in their sleep.
Why then, I wonder, do at night the children weep?
They are not blind to that which lies beyond.
If our ignorance persists, the veil will soon be gone.

When the Darkness comes, the sun it will ignore.
And the light of a single lamp, shall shine on us, no more.
