Battle Plan Event

If it isn't obvious to you, this is going to be the area to talk about the battle plan event for the house feud. Everyone is welcome to throw in their ideas

Let's do away with the givens first ...

Attack their bombers with our Defenders so they can't fire missile barrages at our capital ships.

Escort our bombers to hammer down the enemy cruisers' shields with heavy warheads and move in our own cap ships for the kill if we don't have sufficient warheads.

Perhaps keep one squadron back (maybe one of the T/I squads) for warhead interdiction duties.

Maybe focus fire on one cap ship at a time - once the enemy bombers are eliminated our superiority fighters can move in and eliminate specific hardpoints of the enemy cap ships such as turbolasers, laser cannons, and warhead launchers. Since cap ship weapons aren't primarily designed to defend against snubfighters, our losses should be quite minimal.

There we go.

In terms of what Vlad said on concentrating on one cap ship at a time, I say concentrate on their Majestic class heavy cruiser first...taking away some of their muscle off the bat.

A little bit about the enemy ships ...

Agave-class picket ship (Wookieepedia Entry)

A patrol ship, this vessel is primarily a recon ship that gives detailed information about enemy ships but it can also defend itself against enemy starfighters. It has two (forward firing) turbolasers and four laser cannons (turreted). Probably in our best interest to take care of it quickly so it can't harass our fighters or provide the enemy with critical sensor information.

Majestic-class Heavy Cruiser (Wookieepedia Entry)

A compact yet powerful warship. It has 30 heavy turbolaser cannons, 20 laser cannons, 20 ion cannons, 8 warhead launchers, and 4 tractor beam projectors. They have very thick armor and shields equivalent to a Star Destroyer's. While not as directly powerful as a Star Destroyer, it has upgraded weapon and sensor systems that allow for more accurate fire.

We don't want this ship slugging it out with our own cap ships - so it's best if our bombers engage it from a distance with heavy warheads.

Interdictor Cruiser (Wookieepedia Entry)

This ship presents more of a problem if we need to escape than anything. It is a heavy cruiser that has gravity well projectors which prevent ships from entering hyperspace and will pull ships out of hyperspace. Able to carry two squads of fighters and with 20 quad-laser cannons, it presents more of a danger to our snubfighters than our cap ships.

An interesting strategy to try is to keep one of our cruisers out of the system until this vessel fires up its projectors. We then give the signal to our ship in reserve and it warps into the system. The gravity well projector will pull our ship out of hyperspace right on top of it. Our newly arrived ship will be able to hammer the interdictor hard before the crew is able to respond.

Bothan-class Assault Cruiser (Wookieepedia Entry)

There are two of these to face. While not as dangerous as a Star Destroy this vessel has 20 turbolasers, 24 heavy double turbolaser cannons, 10 ion cannons, and 4 tractor beam projectors. The biggest problem is that this ship has _20_ proton torpedo launchers. Quite dangeous. Our faster starfighters might want to make strafing runs to take out some launchers before these ships get in range of our own cap ships.

Here's how I see it:
Picket ship - target with Justice; Missile boats and Defenders lead the way – Avengers fly cover

Heavy cruiser – target with VIN Honor – Assault Bombers on direct attack, Hunters and Interceptors cover and assault as possible.

Interdictor - wait to attack this one if possible, when reinforcements arrive, they smack down on it.

Bothan x2 - Fury, Vengeance, Legacy engage.

Second wave is Compulsor, Dark Prophet, Orthanc, Valor, Flamewind, Stormwind - attack whatever remains. Lag time on this would be short, 15 minutes.

Decimator on standby if needed.

Now that we have a few ideas, how are we going to put this into a word doc? I have a pretty nice template to use created by the sexy Shad.

What's the template?

We could either type it up or make it a nice looking .html document

The only problem with the latter is that it might take a while longer. We still have a fair amount of time to type up and submit a final document. Still would like to see a couple more people post in this thread with their ideas.

I'd need, oh, maybe a day or two to try and make it fancy looking.

Few ideas floating around my head ...

We only send in the Cotelin first with its starfighter compliment - maybe another ship. The pirates would assume that this is just a probe and there is a good chance that they'll power up the gravity-well projectors on their Interdictor cruiser and trap our cruiser in system, thinking that can get rid of the first probe easily.

When they power up their projectors our ship can signal the rest of the fleet to hyper into the system. They don't have to set exact coordinates as the Interdictor Cruiser's gravity well will automatically pull them out of hyperspace close to the battle. Close enough to hopefully sew confusion into their ranks as our newly arrived ships begin to pummel them. As their ships return fire on the new arrivals our ship that was already in the system will pull in and get its two cents worth in.

Even if the Interdictor Cruiser doesn't fire up its projectors, the captain of our ship can signal the rest of the fleet to jump in and head into the battle.

Alright based off these suggestions, I'm gonna start compiling the battle plan using that fancy doc format Shad made up. Vlad I'll email you a copy of it so it can have a go over before it's submitted

Our battleplan was submitted. My thanks to those who actually chose to spend two minutes contributing.
