Species

Scyrone

29-07-2006 20:22:55

Which species are you?
I just thought it would be interesting to see who was what.
Also, why did you choose your species?

I chose Ithorian, not only cause they look cool, but they have four throats and two mouths. They are just interesting too.

Shi'Ido, the best shapeshifter around

That is an amazing Species. Its in your character history if I am correct?

Baron Zarco

29-07-2006 23:20:09

I am just a humble human. I chose that because I am more able to identify with that. I would probably either screw up if I tried a "specialty race." Either that or I would just play it as a human and reap the benefits of it. I suppose I am just keeping it simple.

MERLANCE

30-07-2006 09:36:00

Human, so I get the bonus feat and skill points at 1st level :)

(thats a d20 joke :D )

Scyrone

30-07-2006 10:29:41

lol, I think I get it.

I would like to see someone who is a Hutt or sumthin.

Kreshtaa

30-07-2006 10:39:50

Gen'Dai here. But I actually have an explination in my history as to why a member of a generally peaceful and harmless species would become an evil, malicious Jedi person *coughspearscough*. :P

Macron Sadow

30-07-2006 12:20:27

Human- I understand them best, and some of my favorite Sith Lords were humans.

Xayun Erinos

Zabrak - I'd just played the SWG trial at the time, my character was one. Hated the game, but it gave me something to work with. :P

What made you pick a Gen'Dai? (never heard of them)

And why'd you pick a Zabrak?

Arcadian

31-07-2006 11:33:21

Human, I just understand them better

Rannik

31-07-2006 20:11:12

oooooo, another Gen`Dai. Kresh'taa, what all do you REALLY know of your species? >:D I am yet another Gen`Dai...

Remdan Tyranius

31-07-2006 22:54:46

Wtf you forgot the best race of them all. Kel'Dorian

Scyrone

31-07-2006 23:03:58

I know, but it had a 20 limit, Kel'dor are cool, but it slipped my mind when I was coming up with species.

Shirai

01-08-2006 01:47:15

The Zabraks are cool and more agile.

Kal

02-08-2006 22:52:55

I picked human. The others were so cool, I just couldn't make up my mind. So I decided to keep it simple. It was an unsuccessful bid at sanity

Ylith Pandemonium

03-08-2006 06:59:41

I have a custom species :P

Valheru all the way!

Kal

03-08-2006 10:10:15

Um... what's a Valheru?

Kaine Mandaala

03-08-2006 10:23:44

Dragon lords from WoW? If so - weak.

Shirai

03-08-2006 16:51:58

wow, you know your creatures Kaine

Halcyon

Unless I've missed something, Valheru hasn't been approved as a custom species

Baron Zarco

03-08-2006 22:22:12

Well, I was not going to say anything because I do not want to rain on anyone's parade but "Gen'Dai" is not listed in the "Species" subsection of the "Databank" section of the "ACC Compendium."

When I was fighting someone who claimed "Gen'Dai," I had no idead what he looked like other than the description he had provided. So, like always, I went to the Compendium. There was nothing there. I did not raise it at the time because I am not petty like that but, seriously, either a) people need to pick something that is in the species list or B) if their species is not on the list but has been individually approved, it would be nice to have that information available.

I am not trying to add to anyone's workload. Still, I hope people can see what I am saying. No offense. It is just that it is hard for one to write about an opponent for whom they have little or no information.

Wes Biriuk

03-08-2006 22:48:28

You could have just googled Gen'Dai, or gone to Wookeepedia and done a search for it.

I do agree that people need to have something in their CS to show at least the basics of the creature. The idea of the CS's is to make writing easier, not harder. The only Gen'Dai in the DB that I can say makes it easier to write about is Kresh'taa of Arcona. He has put a lot of effort into his CS and rightly deserves to be what he is. Others can learn from him.

Baron Zarco

03-08-2006 23:30:33

The problem with "Googling" or Wookiepediaing" or any other non-ACC approved source is that there is so much bulls**t (BS) out there about Star Wars that one hardly can tell what is good or not. From what I have seen, others have run into that with the many permutations of SuperShadow. The last thing I want in an ACC battle is to get cut down for realism and continuity because I do not have an idea at all of who or what I am facing. Then, when questioned, I substantiate with some site that most here say is BS when I had no idea.

I am not trying to sound strident. It just helps to have a species that is described in ACC approved material.

Halcyon

04-08-2006 01:13:23

The reason that Gen'Dai is used is mostly due to the "Clone Wars" cartoons, which is more or less "canon". Although the realism of those cartoon is in question, various aspects of it are a part of regular SW lore...the ACC compendium also includes species that really have no information whatsoever...maybe a paragraph at most. If information on a species can be confirmed by a few trusted sources, than it's "Oked"

Shirai

04-08-2006 01:27:25

thats where they get it from, the compendium

Wes Biriuk

04-08-2006 01:43:24

Those species are tehir for people who believe in their writing capability and are ready for the challenge of writing about something they nkow very little. One advantage of this is the artistic license one may be allowed to use, though I am sure these types would be very carefully scrutinised by the ACC staff.

Muz Ashen

04-08-2006 01:46:53

Human. Not because it is easier to write, but because I can go a lot deeper into the psyche and dredge up some interesting things.

as for Gen'Dai, i thought it was an old word in Klingon for 'power gamer'. :P

And I thought I was a geek.... WoW and Star Trek.... ugh X-)

Shaithis

19-08-2006 15:51:46

Barabel. The idea of being a giant lizard besides the widely known Trandoshans really appealed to me. It allowed me to really play with my character a bit. Shaithis is a bit of a sadist, goes well with the barabels naturally aggressive nature.

Kal

25-08-2006 16:09:10

Just a comment on the whole species list thing, is there really a full list somewhere or does it always load half a page and die on you?

Impetus

14-10-2006 12:21:58

Twi'lek here.
My first JA character was a twi'lek and a different race is more interesting to write about than a human character.
I had some good ideas for a twi''lek history so I chose twi'lek as my species.

Shinichi Endymiron K

18-10-2006 12:00:54

Human all the way. The best Dark Lords were Human, and the Empire had a "Humanity First" policy. So it makes sense for a former Imperial soldier to be human or in very very rare cases a species very similar to humans such as Chiss. Besides the potential for humans is so vast, where other species are limited to one or two culture types humans have thousands upon thousands. And we can be more f**ked up than any other race out there. :D

Zeron

18-10-2006 12:12:45

"The best Dark Lords were Human"

i could argue a little about it ;)

Human here.

Human/Echani here... i guess because i wanted my character to be gracefull . that and the white hair 8op

Macron Sadow

Dismal

07-11-2006 17:40:59

Full Blown Human here..

Vessicant

09-11-2006 19:46:04

Back when I first joined the Emperor's Hammer I was very conflicted over what species to adopt. I figured the Empire's pro-human lean would be a good source of plot development for an alien or near-human character, so I took the route of the underdog. I thought about Kel Dor, Twi'lek, and Chiss, those were among the few I knew back in those days. Thank you Jedi Power Battles and TIE Fighter. Good games, especially TIE.

Then when I was looking over the EH system manual I stumbled upon the Karana system. The inhabitants had been helped out of a civil war by the Imperials, had Force potential, nascent spacefaring technology, and were being exploited by the Hammer. Plus, there was no physical description of them, giving me something to develop as my own (which satisfied the "customization" bug). Perfect.

And so Vessicant the Karanan was born. I established that his kind had blue-grey skin (because I liked the blueness of the Chiss), and kept the rest essentially human (because I was lazy). As far as I know I'm the first and only one (aside from unsubstantiated rumours).

Curses...now I've spoiled my mystique, such as it was.

And I agree fully with Halc on Clone Wars. Beware the cartoon physics, and the lure of the super-tough Gen'Dai. Weaknesses, physical and mental, can provide better writing material than strengths. Fear isn't a bad thing either, especially in a Journeyman. In fact it's essential to the formation of a Dark Jedi. Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suff...I mean....power.

What happened to all the Rodians?

Rodian- That's me. The old school of the aliens. I think Rodians are one of the most identified as bad guys, other than Hutts. The picture on the side is what I look like, btw..

Makurth Mandalore

04-12-2006 12:10:35

I'm a Nelvaanian here. (Yo! the ONLY one :P ) The reason I chose to be that type of alien was that I wanted something both unique and have ties to Native American culture, and maybe some Incan or Aztec thrown in.

Mainly though, the reason I chose them was I liked them far better than the Shistavan Wolfmen (sp?) I mean, how many characters do you know of that are blue furred, chew on table legs, and run around with painted shields and spears? :D

Here's the link to the pic:

Only Maul had tat's over his body, not every Zabrak has them.

Makurth Mandalore

05-12-2006 12:13:28

I meant to ask, what was the reason Maul got tattoos all over his body? I mean I can understand all over his face, chest, and arms, but all over his body??

Macron Sadow

05-12-2006 17:03:54

Sith alchemy. If you look in the DV, there's a Sith tattoos article.

Xhedias

05-12-2006 17:27:49

Not only are they sith tattoos, but i read somewhere that one of Palpatines tests for Maul to endure pain was to take the tattoos without flinching...

I'm one as well.

Nice to meet a fellow Nelvaanian.

Ood Bnar

16-12-2006 10:55:17

I'm a Neti. Giant tree basically.

I chose it cause it seemed cool, they get reeal old and because they can shapeshift without resorting to the force

that's it.

Etah

17-12-2006 03:30:51

I am a Sakiyan, they basically look like Drow Elves without the white hair (or any hair). I choose them for their black skin (though they can be other colors) and their advanced senses which I plan on making a custom weapon when I get enough weapon points (if they’ll allow it >_< ). The Sakiyan are in the Dark Compendium.

Makurth Mandalore

18-12-2006 21:42:16

Dude, if they look like what your avatar does, they look AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'll have to take a look at the DC to see what they're all about

Fire-Knight

21-12-2006 09:09:02

My character was originally Saiyakan, but i decided to revamp. Saiyaken are Night black humans with Enlarged Craniums (and elongated) the are adept at hunting and have infared vision. They also have double teh strength of the average human. their downside is they are extremely paranoid and xenophobic.

Etah

27-12-2006 06:25:39

You know I haven’t heard anything about the doubled strength outside of here. In the Star Wars Alien anthology it mostly stressed what the books calls near supernatural senses. It also explains that they are paranoid because they have been invaded a lot, especially by the Hutts. They live within Hutt space and are one of the few races to be able to keep the Hutts at arms length (the Hutts need their spiffy repulsar lift technology).
