Autarch. It means supreme ruler. It's a fairly logical addition to words such as Imperial and Sovereign. It would basically mean "supreme ruling-class star destroyer".

The shape of the ship also makes me think of the word Shadow. Shadow-class star destroyer Autarch would be nice. Though its common in real life to name a ship after its class there actually is no evidence of this in Star Wars beyond a couple of coincidences and a lot more clear examples where Star Wars actually goes against common naming procedures.

Actually, traditionally a ship class is named after the first ship of that type, if I recall Donitz's lectures correctly.

I've always like naming ships - from the days when you could do it in "Rebellion" to more modern day games - even Master of Orion 3 where you get to name the class. My suggestions are:

Armageddon - Complete and utter destruction
Agamemnon - High King of Greece, evil, demented and obsessed with ruling
Adjudicator - synonym of Ruler
Chaos - CSD
Grand Master - GMSD
Darkside / Dark Side - DSSD
Brotherhood - BSD
Abolition
Annihilation
Obliteration
Subjugation
Terror

That's just a few off the top of my head

Erebus: greek mythology, the personification of darkness

Taranis: celtic mythology, compared to jupiter/zeus, known as the "thunderer"

Cerebus: greek mythology, guardian of the underworld

I think I prefer Erebus out of the three.

*edit* I have yet to see anyone reccomend Nemesis. Since I was going all mythological and stuff, it means righteous anger or divine vengence. But it is a little cliche, though I still like it almost as much as Erebus.

You notice I didn't call it a Star Destroyer, because they don't necessarily need to be called Star Destroyers, only the lines of ships that are actually fairly similar in design (VSD through ESSD) need to be classified as star destroyers. Destroyer is the biggest class of ship in the Star Wars uni from what I can recall, so we should probably keep it as a Destroyer, though I wouldn't be against classifying it as a Dreadnaught.

Next as a Judicial type, I would ask that people keep their ideas to one post, if you have more in the future, you can go edit your previous post. I have my doubts that this was meant to be a discussion topic, so much as a "list your ideas so Jac can go through them and choose, not have to look at your inane and idiotic dribble" topic.

Symbol of the Word:-

Medusa has historically been seen as the archetype of the nasty mother, however she is far more complex. She symbolizes the following:

Sovereign female wisdom. The female mysteries. All the forces of the primordial Great Goddess: The Cycles of Time as past, present and future. The Cycles of Nature as life, death and rebirth. She is universal Creativity and Destruction in eternal Transformation. She is the Guardian of the Thresholds and the Mediatrix between the Realms of heaven, earth and the underworld. She is Mistress of the Beasts. Latent and Active energy.

Connection to the earth. The union of heaven and earth. She destroys in order to recreate balance. She purifies.

She is the ultimate truth of reality, the wholeness beyond duality. She rips away our mortal illusions. Forbidden yet liberating wisdom. The untamable forces of nature. As a young and beautiful woman she is fertility and life. As crone she consumes by devouring all on the earth plane. Through death we must return to the source, the abyss of transformation, the timeless realm. We must yield to her and her terms of mortality. She reflects a culture in harmony with nature.

Well the common symbol of a Medusa is transformation and petrification. Now with that symbol in our heads, lets imagine.

Our Enemies are petrified with fear when this cruiser exits hyper space, The Medusa. I chose a female name becasue a ship is considered female anyways, so may as well go with the flow.

A small Skit:-

General: "My Lord the Medusa has entered orbit, her gun ports are opened"
Local Governor: "God help us all."

Next scene we see the population of that world look up at the massive shape of the heavy cruiser, petrified in their glare as red ruby darts cascade across the surface of the planet. Turning the once green world into morter and ash.

Cant get more symbolic than that!
