Hello everyone,

I need this answered as soon as possible. Who ruled the Sith a thousand years before the clone wars? also who lead the Republic? Basicly I need to know what major event happened at that time.

Thank You.

Not sure about the republic.
However, that would be Sith Lord Kaan and his Brotherhood of Darkness.

Thanks.

Here's the thing though, The republic sood for a thousand years before the clone wars, Palpatine says it himself, later he of course says: "Once more the Sith will rule the Galaxy", indicating that the Sith did so before. also the jedi mentioned an event happening a thound years prior if i am not mistaken. I want to know what happened.

The Sith never actually ruled the galaxy per se, at least not so far as any existing documentation says, Palpatine was just exagerating, the Sith may have had an Empire before, and ruled a large portion of the galaxy, but they'd never actually controlled the Republic before.

It had been a thousand years since the last great Jedi v Sith war though. The Sith had existed as a large Brotherhood up until they were virtually wiped out at the Battle of Ruusan. There's not a lot of information on the period before that, except that the Sith were a large entity, somewhat politically established, and probably ruled a reasonable amount of the galaxy - probably equivvalent to the threat the Confederacy posed the Republic in the Clone Wars.

People make claims involving 'a thousand years' a lot in real life too... it rarely actually means that number literally. The Republic had technically speaking existed for 25,000 years when Palpatine said that, though the reformed Republic following the War of Light and Darkness (the one 1000 years before the Clone Wars) is where they set the zero point for their calendar, so when most people during the Clone Wars probably considered the 'modern Republic' to have been established - hence the 1000 year old statement. The last time the Sith came anywhere close to ruling the galaxy though was 5000 years before, arguably 4000 as well, but we don't know a lot about the demographics during the Sith Wars, the Sith were a serious threat for 100 years or so during that period, but its hard to say how much of the galaxy they controlled.

Thank you very much, that has been on my mind for a very long time. So effectivly, Palpatine was the first Sith to rule the galaxy?
