Unrest in the City

Part One

The assembled crowd waited eagerly in the park, warm sunlight filtering down through the dome above. Around the park stalls were set up selling t-shirts, posters and badges with various supporting logo’s on. Thousands of eager people waited impatiently watching the assembled stage with the large screen behind it, while news crews moved amongst them conducting interviews and the Dlarit Police stood impassively here and there around the edges, maintaining a presence but attempting to not look too obvious or threatening. Enterprising fast food sellers had also set up amongst the stalls and were making a roaring trade as the crowd got impatient, thirsty and hungry. Away from the crowd many of the more relaxed spectators were sat on empty patches of grass relaxing and waiting. One young woman sat with her back to tree relaxing in shorts and t-shirt, sunglasses resting on her forehead beneath her short black hair as she watched the crowd curiously. A similarly dressed tall man approached her carrying a steaming paper bag in one hand and a holder with two plastic cups of beer.
She smiled at him. “You took your time,” she said teasingly, “I was about to give up on you.”

He shrugged, leaning down and handing her the cup holder before sitting down on the grass next to her. “There was a long queue.”

She nodded, as he reached into the bag and took out a hot roll wrapped in greaseproof paper and handed it to her. She unwrapped it and took a bite. “So?”

Delta 19 or Captain Senth as he was known glanced around taking a sip of his beer. “Lot of undercover police amongst the crowd, they stand out like sore thumbs. There’s also some very serious faced guards in suits around the stage, I’d guess ex corporate security, barely concealed blasters. There’s also a lot of calm corporate types amongst the crowd, paid cheerleaders to stir them up.”

Soolin nodded, the Krath Knight watching the stage. “No idea who this Ven Dastari thinks he is, one minute he’s an importer and warehouse owner, next minute he’s a public hero and defender of the oppressed masses.“ Her voice sounded distasteful. She frowned as a cheer suddenly rippled through the crowd. “It’s starting.”

A man in a light grey suit walked out onto the stage, waving at the crowd as he made his way to the middle, the screen behind him focusing on the relaxed smile on his early forties groomed features. He stopped in the middle behind the microphone, still smiling and waving as the cheering continued. Ven Dastari was their hero, the city's here it almost seemed. He waited until it died down. “Thank you all for coming,” he said by way of greeting, “it makes more gratified than you can imagine to see so many of you here today supporting us. I am delighted to have the honour to stand here in front of you all!” He paused as the cheering began again.

It abated when a more serious look appeared on his face. “I said I am delighted, but you all know the reason I stand here is not delight, but anger. I am angry and you stand before me because you are also angry.” He paused again as the cheering turned to an angry muttering and shouting passing over the crowd. “We are the citizens of this city, owned by the Dlarit Corporation, we are their own workers, or people who have come to the city to do business. And we are allowed to stay here because we are useful to Dlarit, useful to earn them profits.” He emphasised the word “useful”, spitting it out almost.

“However there are a people here who are not so useful to Dlarit, people who have come to this city to escape war, to escape death, to escape their destroyed homes. But they don’t live in Seng Karash. They aren’t allowed to by Dlarit for that reason because the owners don’t find them useful. They have been forced outside the city, where they live in dirty surroundings, without clean water, without food, without medical care."

He paused again as more of the crowds shouted in agreement. "Dlarit promised a home for these people. The shining new Markosian City, where there would be jobs and homes for them. But that promise was broken, and Markosian City is now home for their military. Instead these refugues live in the so called Resettlement Centre, or Tent City, plagued by disease, plagued by hunger and thirst, plagued on by criminals because the Dlarit Police turn a blind eye. And because the Dlarit Management sleep comfortably in their beds and ignore them.” As Dastari spoke his image on the screen was replaced by carefully selected images of Tent City and the poverty within it.

He waited while more jeering surged through the crowd. “But I do care,” he continued, “and every day more and more of you care. And we are prepared to show that we care. And when enough of us care Dlarit will also have to care!” The cheering began again. “We will make them. The Dlarit Corporation relies on the citizens of this city and this planet for it’s profits, the work of you and those like you pays for their luxury, their ships,” he glanced up through the dome at the ever present mass of the Marakith Skyhook hovering above the city, “and their facilities and because of that they have to listen to us. And they will!”

After the cheering abated again Dastari leaned forward as his face appeared again on the screen. “All we ask for is fairness,” he continued, “and that Dlarit provide the same basic needs they and we enjoy and your work pays for to all the citizens of this planet, not just those they consider ‘useful’. I call on the Dlarit Management with your voice added to mine to answer us, to answer to the people they have shoved into Tent City, to prove to us that they care about more than their profit and their comfort. To listen and act!”

As the cheering continued and the news crews focused their lenses on the crowd and the man on stage Soolin sat back thoughtfully sipping her beer. “He’ll start a damn revolution.”

“Or a strike,” the DAC agreed, “we should have put a blaster bolt between his eyes months ago.”

“That would create a martyr,” the Krath disagreed, “still we need to do something before the thousands here turn into tens of thousands. Or more.” She pushed herself to her feet. “Looks like the excitement is over we’d better report to the Quaestor.”

Part 2

Somewhere in Tent City
Aeotheran

Geer Sirvos was terrified. Today should have been the best day of his life. At thirty nine his appointment as Vice President of Dlarit Mining had raised a few eyebrows, both amongst his former peers who had come up through the organisation and from the news media not owned by the corporation. He was regarded as young, talented, charming, and worryingly ambitious even compared with many of the corporation’s executives. Following a stay in the apartment in Dlarit Beach his new position afforded him, he had been en route in a private shuttle back to Seng Karash to have an early night before the following morning’s board meeting where his introduction was to be the moment of his crowning glory. Now he was sat in a dark room of a pre fabricated shelter strapped to a chair with a cloth bag over his head. The crew of the downed shuttle and his bodyguard were either held elsewhere or dead, he had no idea which. Who had him, and what did they want with him?

He raised his head at the sound of heavy footsteps approached and something metallic was placed on the floor in front of him. He waited nervously as more footsteps entered the room. Voices began to speak. “We are ready to precede?” The Dlarit executive listened nervously.

"Whenever you say."

"Good, then we will waste no time. Turn it on."

The bag over Geer's head was pulled roughtly off and he blinked at the light as a muffled female voice began to talk from under her helmet. "Citizens of Seng Karash, and leaders of the Dlarit Corporation. We are the Voice of Justice here in Tent City. I am Deliverance the leader of our efforts here. For a long time now Dlarit has refused to listen to us. Now we have been forced to take direct action. In front of you sits one of Dlarit's executives, Geer Sirvos, the Vice President of Dlarit Mining. He is our guest here, and despite our hospitality I imagine he wishes to return to his home and his job. To fulfill his wishes and ours it is time for Dlarit to talk to us, to close this Resettlement Centre and give us someone decent to live, to give us food and medical supplies, to give us justice. They have fourty-eight hours to respond Then our hospitality for our guest will be ended. We do not wish for this to happen. Dlarit will agree to our demands."

As the transmission was terminated Geer cast a fearful glance at the woman who seemed to be in charge. She met his gaze through her visor then shrugged. "Take him away."

Sergeant Teu Pepoi was watching the recording again from inside Marakith’s CIC, a concerned frown on her face. “Can we pinpoint the location?” she asked.

Soolin nodded and brought an overhead image of the Resettlement Centre up on the display, “Yes they’ve rerouted it through several networks to mask the signal but their technology is inferior.”

The Bastion Leader studied the image. “Keep trying to raise the Summit.” She glanced around as the doors slid open and a robed figure entered. He drew his hood back to reveal his heavily scarred features that still disturbed many of the personnel onboard but which Teu and Soolin were by now used to. “Malisane, thank you for joining us,” the Sergeant said calmly.

“Where are Dyrra and Raistlin?” he demanded quietly in his rasping voice.

“They are at Sadow Palace,” Teu replied simply, “we are trying to contact them.”

“You must act now,” Malisane replied staring at the screen, “we must not allow these filth to make fools of us.”

“I’m not doing anything until I speak to the Quaestor,” Teu asserted. “This is a political situation.”

The Battlelord sneered, “We have the means to resolve this.” He turned to the D:SOG Officer who was stood to attention nearby. “Major, you have a squad on standby?”

The man cast a glance at Teu who looked annoyed then back at Malisane. “Yes Commander.”

“Good,” the Battlelord replied, “then we will waste no time.”

“I think this is unwise.” Teu argued, “we should wait for the Summit.”

“Nonsense,” Malisane snapped, “come with me Major.” And he strode out.

Soolin came up behind Teu. “Can you stop him?”

Teu shook her head. “I’ll contact the Bastion and get Sai or Ashura here.”

“That might be too late,” Soolin replied.

Tent City
Aeotheran

The squad of D:SOG marines moved silently in the twilight through Tent City, wearing cloaks simular to those around them as they headed towards the target location. Around them huddled figures crowded around rough fires, cooking whatever they had scrounged or caught. In the skies above Marakith relayed images of the camp to them, and they confidently approached the area the signal had originated. The Captain in charge signalled them to split up to encircle a large buildng ahead. He glanced at the datapad in his hand, which showed heat blooms in the building. He relayed this to his squad. On the outskirts of the building he saw several figures stood nonchalantly or leaning against the walls. He signalled and several snipers took position, and fired silently, quick flashes that took out the guards before they knew they suspected anything was wrong. He smiled and signalled the squad to move in.

Inside the building one the the mercenaries stood glanced up as a light began to flash. "Call her."

A few seconds later Deliverance entered the room. "Well?" she demanded.

"The silent alarm has been tripped, we are under attack."

She frowned. "I did not think they would be so foolish," she replied, "very well. Signal the evacuation, and have our people outside provide us with an escape route."

"At once." the man bowed. "What about the hostage?"

"He is useless now. Leave him."

As the D:SOG marines moved in an urgent signal came from above. The Captain glanced at his display and noted figures moving steathily on their position from amongst the refugees. "Take defensive positions." As his squad studied the crowd he could make out figures moving stealthliy towards them. Then from behind a door exploded, showering the area with sparks. The D:SOG marines opened fire and the mercenaries responded, filling the air with the sound of blaster fire and screams as around them the ordinary refugee populace panicked, begining to run as amongst them Deliverance's people returned the marine's fire. Many of the refugees responded by picking up stones and burning fire branches and hurling them indescriminately at either the marines or the mercenaries, and were shot down, as were people trying to push past them and the smell of death filled the air. Within minutes hundreds lay dead as the whole area turned into a riotous bloodbath. When it was over the surviving weary maries moved into the building to secure it and the hostage. At a signal from Deliverance the remaining members of the Voice of Justice slipped away into the fleeing crowds.

She turned to cast one last glance at the death around her. "They have made a fatal mistake. Now the people will be on our side. We will the fools hard."

Seng Karash

Tsainetomo Keibatsu Sadow stormed furiously down the corridor, the soliders on guard recognising the former Quaestor and quickly saluting and moving aside. He ignored them as he reached the C&C and the doors slid open. He surveyed the scene. Teu and Soolin were watching the display of the carnage regrettfully as news channels showed images of dead bodies and the Dlarit staff stood silently in either shock or regret. He focused his gaze on the robed Sith stood calmly in the middle of the room. "What have you done?"

Malisane turned and nodded his head in greeting to his fellow Sadow. "I did not realise you were onboard Sai, welcome."

Sai's eyes bored into Malisane's scarred face. "I said what the hell have you done?"

"I have resolved the situation, we have established our authority, and our executive is on his way back to the bosom of his family as we speak."

"You have caused a disaster!" Sai snapped back, "The city is outraged. The news channels are calling us murderers. That Dastari character is milking it for all it is worth. A political disaster when feeling was bad enough already, And you lost most of the terrorists!"

"I advised against this," Teu interceded. Both Battlelord's glanced at her then back to each other.

"They are cattle," Malisane said calmly, "Give them a half percent pay rise and an afternoon off and they will forget the whole thing by the weekend. As for the terrorists we have people looking for them. They will be brought to justice."

"We will see if the Summit agree with your optimism," Sai replied coldly, "and the Overlord."

"So we shall." Malisane held Sai's gaze for a second longer then turned and left.

Part 3

Lambda-Class Shuttle 1L-19
Darkside of Aeotheran
en route to Marakith

The trip should’ve been more relaxing.

Consul Manji Keibatsu Sadow had packed, along with his standard fit-out, a case of his finest Kyataran sake, eager to celebrate ‘a new era’ along with the rest of his Summit and some hand-picked invitees on board the skyhook that kept station above Seng Karash, the principle city on Aeotheran. Some time ago, he and the other high muckety-mucks had gotten it into their heads that the days of Quaestor-ly ‘fiefdoms’ were far beyond them, and that they could get so much more accomplished as a Clan – imagine that! – should they succeed in ridding themselves of the ‘isolationist’ mentality that had plagued the leadership for so long. Manji took the lead on that initiative, and proclaimed publically that the imaginary borders that had been drawn between Houses Ludo Kressh and Marka Ragnos were officially null and void.

The thinking had been that if travel between the Houses and their respective planetary holdings could be encouraged, then more hands would be available on any given time to quell any issues that might arise. Of course, that meant that no one force would be ensconced on their primary systems just waiting for the next big threat to pop-up, but historically, the leadership had no real difficulty in rallying the troops when those threats did. The lasting immeasurable effect would be that there would be an esprit de corps, an unshakeable belief in Astronicus Aurelius Sadow’s vision of the Final Way fostered through their mutual cooperation, and the unified Clan would be nearly unstoppable against all who opposed them.

Manji’s legacy as a Consul would be assured. His rise to power would reach astronomical heights. And, there was plenty of sake to drink that evening.

The trip should’ve been more relaxing.

Instead, the Keibatsu had spent every moment from when he had set foot aboard the lambda to halfway to the skyhook getting one side of his arse chewed by the Overlord Astronicus – the other half, of both his time and his proverbial rear, belonged to his brother, the Dark Lord Darth Ashen himself. It seemed that neither blood nor name could save one who was close to falling out of favor with the powers that be.

Both ‘admonishments’, to use the most gentle of terms, had been so similar that his repetitions of “Aye, m’lord”, “No, sire”, “Yes, sire”, “I’m not sure, m’lord”, “Don’t worry, m’lord”, “It shall be as you say, sire”, and the like had all seemed to run together. In a nutshell, there were those with very interested eyes who had cast their gaze on the state of the Clan – and they were none too happy with current events, to again, put it as gently as possible.

The more he was pressed, the more he realized how uninformed he was – and how rapidly things were spinning out of control. That enraged Astronicus and Muz…and embarrassed him. It was clear that his interrogators were unhappy, and if both Lord Sadow and the Grand Master were unhappy, then Manji could rest assured that he would be made unhappy, too.

The Dokugan-ryu sighed, facing the viewport onboard the shuttle as it made its final approach to the skyhook. His mien was such that he was more looking rather than seeing, but his consciousness registered other shuttles bearing both Kresshian and Ragnosian markings pouring into the floating citadel’s hangar bays, with a great many others flitting about the surrounding airspace.

He should’ve been more relaxed.

Neither Basic nor Kyataran contains a word that could accurately describe what Manji was, but if one could sneak a peak from the Consul’s eyes – rather, eye – they would be hard-pressed to make out any detail, as red-tinged as his vision was.

Aeotheran
Airspace above Seng Karash
Marakith Skyhook
Main Observatory

The oval-shaped space sat as a jewel in a crown atop the massive citadel. All of the appointments, save the Quaestor’s chair, had been either moved or replaced by more lavish furnishings and the entire room was decorated in gaudy streamers, confetti and balloons. Banners proclaiming “A New Day”, and “Open Doors” were set up along the perimeter of the space’s overhead. A long, oaken table was full of food, steaming and delectable. There was even a fountain that bubbled with effervescent alcohol, centerpoint of the room and set up opposite the Quaestor’s chair, and all were attended by mundane servants who held the highest security clearance, unobtrusive in their presence and discrete in their confidence. By all accounts, the stage was set for a truly epic Sadowan party.

Several Sadowans of note had taken up stations about the space, chatting raucously and imbibing moderate amounts of their alcohol of choice; as some in attendance were actually Sons of Sadow, they had all brought their Bottles of Sadow, mystical and depthless, and were providing specialized drinks for those who had chosen to eschew the standard fare. Besides, many had the feeling that by the time that all was said and done, the victuals consumed and hangovers reserved, the furniture smashed and formal robes stained almost beyond repair, everything would be worth it. They were merely waiting for Manji to make his appearance, and then the real party could begin.

So it was a surprise to some that when the Consul stalked purposefully through the space’s massive main hatch, Manji’s arrival hadn’t been accompanied with more fanfare.

Still, Marka Ragnos’ stewards Fremoc Pepoi and Methyas Arcturi L’eonheart spotted him as they stood by the food table, and began applauding, satisfaction upon their faces. Truly, despite the Quaestor’s chair being reserved for Manji, they were the guests of honor, symbolizing House Ludo Kressh’s willingness to allow Marka Ragnos’ scions free passage throughout the area. In truth, the pair was taking liberal notes on the Kresshian’s party set-up; they’d be expected to throw a similar bash, and they wanted to better their counterparts Dyrra Skye and Raistlin Sadow’s attempts at merry-making.

Old habits died hard, so the saying went.

The Consul gave a curt nod as he passed them, reserving his last vestiges of politeness for the pair. They barely noticed as they both threw a hearty “For Sadow!” at his back.

At the Ragnosian’s summit’s prompting, others began to join in the applause. Proconsul Taigikori Dupar took up station to the right of the Quaestor’s chair and made a welcoming motion towards the chair that was Manji’s by rank and by right. The Consul spared not one glance at him as he sat deliberately and lightly, sitting stock upright as if itching to stand again.

“Psst!” The Proconsul hissed at Dyrra, Quaestor of Ludo Kressh, who was busy looking as if allergic to the formal uniform she wore, her facial expression reflective of her practically willing the restrictive clothing off of her person.

Dyrra fidgeted as she took up her own place to the left of the chair she’d normally occupy, the tomboy banished from her normal appearance. Yet when she spoke, the slight edge to her lilting voice let everyone know that she was still the Dyrra they knew.

“Ahem,” she began, clearing her throat. “Ladies and gentlemen, Sons and Daughters of Sadow, and distinguished guests, I give you ol’ One Eye! I mean, Lord Consul Manji Sadow.” Dyrra finished, and the assembly applauded loudly, interspersing the sound with shouts of “For Sadow!”, mimicking Fremoc and Methyas’ earlier pronouncement. Ekeia Iclo, Commander of the Nighthawks had stopped conversing with the Night Raptors’ Sergeant Kano Verda so that they, too, could join in the applause. Teu Pepoi, leader of the mysterious Bastion, had turned away from Jades Sadow and Tsainetomo Keibatsu Sadow’s discussion as to why the Korun had not worn his formal robes and began clapping, too. Tsainetomo looked past his Sister-in-Sadow and the Knight and cast his tripartite eyes on the face of his cousin.

What he saw was...troubling. Manji didn’t so much as acknowledge the applause. There were no waves or mouthed “thank you”s forthcoming from the Consul. The Keibatsu merely sat, his long fingers steepled in front of his face, his visage darkening with every second.

After a time, the applause began to dwindle, and then it stopped with the clearing of throats and rustling of feet upon the polished deck. Typically, this was the part when the Consul would’ve given a few words of encouragement, would detail their reason for being there, and would give the blessing to officially start the festivities.

Typically.

Instead, the words Manji spoke through clenched teeth gave all present pause, sending shivers down Sadowan spine.

“What the hell is going on?!”

The silence that filled the room was palpable as none could wade through the fog of confusion that had suddenly arisen. A dim area to the side of the room that contained Robert, Macron and Malisane Sadow produced the gurgling of a liquid as the Rollmaster turned up his Bottle of Sadow, drinking deeply from the mouth of the container, a smile plastered on his besotted features. It was a comical sound, a surreal counterpoint to the seriousness that Manji had brought to the proceedings and even the dour Malisane couldn’t suppress the small grin that had begun to crease his scarred face. The Alchemist involuntarily tittered, his eyes wild within his tattooed mask of a face.

Dyrra looked from Manji to Taigikori and back to her Master. “This is the celebration you ordered us to…”

Manji’s sharp voice was laced with menace and punctuated with slivers of glass as he barked, stifling Dyrra’s explanation. “Teu! Pull up a huttkarkin' holoscreen, Holonet, Channel Six!”

The Bastion’s sergeant complied, a remote control in her hand as one side of the plastisteel expanse lit up…and filled with the oily features of Ven Dastari. Muted though the transmission was, nearly every Kresshian present could practically recite by rote the saccharine vitriol that the businessman had been spouting against the Dlarit Corporation.

By this point, Manji himself had punched a few buttons on the chair that had produced a screen and an accompanying image a short distance to the right of Dastari’s face. This one contained the footage from Deliverance, the serene wildness clear in her eyes despite her voice, too, being muted.

“You schuttas are unbelievable! In the middle of these two lunatics threatening to tear down what we’ve worked so hard to build…you huttkarkers want to party! Gorramed ‘Campaign Arguing Refugee-huttkarking-Equality’…’Voice Of-karkin-Justice…what the kark is this? ‘Ding dong, the Vong are gone?!'” Manji was so furious that he’d began to ramble and was almost trembling in the Quaestor’s chair; Taigikori could swear that the lighting began to dim under the Consul’s gathering of his considerable powers.

At this, Malisane shambled forth, his body wracked with dull pain and his voice slurred under the cocktail of medications coursing through his veins. “No need to fret at this stage. The situation has started to be taken care of. In the Sadowan way.” A dangerous pause, and then, “Lord Consul.”

“Oh, yeah, it’s ‘been taken care of’,” mocked the Consul, punching more buttons as Tsainetomo moved to join Malisane, who by now had made his way to stand between Manji and the fountain. In the center of the screens came the most damning images of them all: a looped feed of the massacre in the Resettlement Center, showing civilians falling to D:SOG guns, their life’s blood vivid as it arced and splashed on the screen.

The Consul purposefully punched a button on the chair, and the room suddenly filled with a cacophony of noise consisting of anti-Dlarit rhetoric, a zealot’s convictive ranting, and blasters cutting down the innocent, weapons’ discharge harmonizing with agonized and panicked screams. “You huttkarking schuttas still think we should be celebrating?! Do you?!” Manji roared as he finally stood, the Quaestor’s chair no longer able to hold him or his anger. An ethereal storm of Dark Side energy had risen unbidden with the Keibatsu at its eye, and the banners about the room began to flutter violently, finally tearing free of their moorings. The food table was upended, its fine serving dishes clattering noisily, adding to the din issuing from the vidscreens.

Manji’s body quaked on the raised dais that held the Quaestor’s chair, his single eye closed and his face contorted in debate, looking as if deciding whether to calm down or to give full vent to his rage, a rage that would no doubt kill every single person in the room. Tsainetomo had seen the aftermath of the latter choice before, and he called out to him, even as he bodily supported Malisane’s form.

“Cousin!” Aided by the Force, Tsainetomo’s baritone cut though the noise to alight upon Manji’s ear. The Dokugan-ryu’s eye snapped open and zeroed in on his cousin’s face.

This was unfortunate for Tsainetomo, as Manji now realized that he had a viable target for his emotion. The Consul’s fingers moved of their own volition as he killed the loud feed to the three screens, and his hand then clenched as the forces raging about the room coalesced to a small point in front of him.

Tsainetomo braced, as if knowing what was to happen next.

Manji’s throat loosed a primal scream as he finally released the energies with a wild wave of his arm in Tsainetomo’s and Malisane’s direction.

At the outpouring of emotion and telekinetic energy, Malisane, weakened from injury and medication, took two staggering steps backward. The only indication that Sai had suffered any of the blast was his hair fluttering fitfully in its queue at the back of his head.

That, and the small trickle of blood that had formed at his nose.

The bubbling fountain at Sai and Malisane’s back, however, was not so lucky. It shattered noisily, fragments of crystal tinkling and effervescent alcohol splashing to the deck, the delicate contraption destroyed unceremoniously in the face of the Dokugan-ryu’s might.

Faster than any could register, Manji had moved with a flutter of his kimono to stand directly in front of his cousin, his hand dangerously close to the shoto in his sash. “You know, cousin, there are those who would – and could – lay the blame for all of this squarely at your feet. You, and ‘old Scabby’ there.” Tsainetomo kept silent as Malisane regained his composure and stood at Sai’s back as the Consul spoke, quiet menace woven into his words. Dyrra had rushed forward, placing a hand on Manji’s ‘saber arm, her whispered “Master?” urging caution at the Keibatsu openly drawing upon his cousin. The resulting violence in such a public forum could do irreparable damage to the Family’s reputation and the Clan itself. Tsainetomo wiped the trickle at his nose with a sun-darkened hand and regarded the dark fluid absently, the other hand’s index finger tapping the unorthodox hilt of his own weapon.

“However, those who would’a done it, got to me first,” Manji continued, glancing down at Dyrra as if registering that she, and the rest of the gathered Sadowans, were still in the room.

“So, this is what’s gonna happen.” Manji whirled and made his way back to the command chair, smoothing his kimono as he went. “Dyrra, you seem to clean up nice,” – at this, his apprentice and Kresshian Quaestor tugged uncomfortably at the snugness of her collar - “so for every word this Dastari piece of pudu utters, you will counter. Raistlin, you will give her the muscle behind the smile. Really, apprentice? Rouge?!” Dyrra swiped angrily at her lightly made-up cheeks with a sleeve.

Sitting, he continued. “Malisane, since you seem to like low places, that’s exactly where you’d better be every time I contact you. Resettlement City for you! Find Deliverance, if you can stop killing civilians long enough to do so!”

“There will a base of operations planet-side set up…I don’t care by whom. You Ragnosians? Don’t even think about packing! You can come here to party? Then you can karkin’ work, too! If one of these dogs passes wind, somebody better be there to sniff it!”

Manji looked at the gathered, who looked back, blinking and gape-jawed. “Well?! If yer standin’ here, yer not doin’ what I said! MOVE! And send someone to clean this karkin’ mess up!”

Force-users and mundane alike never moved with such swiftness and surety.

The massive hatch shut whisper quiet behind the last of the Sadowans to leave the space. Finally alone, Manji slumped visibly in the chair, the tension seeming to momentarily ebb out of his tense frame. He uncorked a gourd of his special reserve sake, produced from within the folds of his kimono, and drained it in one draught. The fluid warmed his body, and he exhaled audibly. Presently, his personal comm device pinged, and once again, the twin images of Muz and Astronicus materialized before him.

The twin diatribe began anew, and Manji, amidst explanation and apology, spared a single stray thought.

He should’ve been more relaxed by now.

Part 4

The Resettlement Centre
Aeotheran

The two police officers moved their way through the massed figures, looking curiously at people as they passed. Since the recent riot in the area their presence had been increased only to observe on direct orders from the planetary governor not to provoke the situation further. They cautiously kept their hands near their holstered blasters but tried to act relaxed. Then one of them swore, as a tall huddled figure in the customary dirty grey robe of those around him stepped on his foot. "Hey what do you think you're doing?"

The figure didn't raise his head. "Should watch where you're going shouldn't you?" he growled menacingly.

The officer bristled. "Watch it; don't you know who we are?"

"Damn flatfoots." the man replied.

"You want a night in the cells?" the officer demanded, his hand going to his blaster.

"Cool it Sten we're not meant to cause bother," his partner reasoned.

"This scum is the one causing bother," Sten replied, reaching out and grabbing the refugees hand. It turned out to be a mistake. The man snapped his own hand out and grabbed the officer by the throat lifting him and casually tossing him forward towards a fire. As the officer narrowly missed the flames and hit the ground hard his partner's hand moved to his blaster but a wild swing from the big man's fist smashed into the side of his head sending him spinning to the floor.
The big man snarled, moving forward untill another hand quickly grabbed his robe. He swung around to face an earnest looking shorter man smiling at him. "Hey friend cool it, you need to get out of here before more of them come."

The big man regarded him from under his hood. "Who are you?"

"A friend maybe," the little man replied, "I might know people who'd want to meet you."

Deliverance looked up as the door to the shelter opened, frowning curiously as Gavroche entered. "Well?" she asked.

"Got someone you might want to meet boss," he replied with a smile, "got into a fight with two of Dlarits goons, put them down hard."

She raised an eyebrow. "Show him in," she replied with a shrug. She studied the big man as Gavroche beckoned him inside. His hooded head studied her cooly, the other two men in the room, then thier surroundings. "So what's your story?"

The man shrugged. "Your little friend said you were looking for people who didn't like Dlarit."

"And you count yourself amongst them?" she asked perching on a table.

"Damn right," he replied, "got enough reasons to."

"Lower your hood," she replied, and Gavroche gapsed at the man's features. His skin was heavily scarred, a mass of burnt red flesh and a broken twisted nose and bald head. Deliverance studied him cooly. "Who are you?"

"My name is Verdane, formerly DSF Sergeant Verdane."

"You're Dlarit?" she asked curiously, as the other men in the room shifted at this.

"I was," he replied, "until this happened." He indicated his burnt appearance, "kicked me out."

"Why?" she asked.

"Why do you think?" he demanded, "like that Dastari guy says on the news vids. I wasn't useful anymore. Fought for them against the Vong and the Peace Brigade. Nearly damn well died. Not that they care."

"Can you fight?" she asked.

"Sure can."

"I can vouch for that," Gavroche butted in.

Deliverance nodded, "Take him to see Doctor Sharl. Get her to check him over."

Gavroche nodded and lead the Sergeant away. When they'd left one of the other men growled. "He could be a plant. Dlarit's got their tricks."

She nodded. "Maybe, but if thats a clever cosmetic job the doctor will know. Then we'll post him back to Dlarit in a bag. Otherwise we need the people and he might know something useful."

"The new posters look great," Dastari said approvingly studying one which showed the Dlarit logo superimposed on a picture of burned bodies in Tent City. "Print off five hundred and get them up around the city."

"At once Mr Dastari," an aide said with a bow.

"You're doing well people," he said with a smile to the room in general, "who says head to Good Valor's later for pizzas we might be working late?" A chuckle spread around the room.

"Mr Dastari?" He turned as Kalvert entered, the head of his security. The man wore the traditional dark suit a blaster bulged under his jacket.

"Whats up?"

"There are two women to see you sir," Kalvert said politely.

"Really?" Dastari replied with a smile, "show them in."

He beamed as two youngish women entered. Both were smartly dressed, the first had short dark hair and wore a blue suit, the second wore a black suit and had long copper coloured hair and sunglasses. "How can I help you."

The dark haired woman extended her hand and Dastari shook it politely. "I am Miss Soolin, this is Miss Jade. It is a pleasure to meet you Mr Dastari."

"The pleasure is mine," Dastari replied as he shook Miss Jade's hand. "So how can I help you?"

"It's more what we can do for you Mr Dastari," Miss Soolin replied, "we represent a small firm of consultants, dispensing organisational and public relations advice. Your campaign has grabbed the attention of the whole system, we would be honoured to lend our assistance."

Dastari studied both women, Miss Soolin was smiling in a relaxed manner and Miss Jade was observing the room through her glasses with a sense of detachment. "Well I can always use more assistance I'm sure," he replied with a warm smile, "welcome aboard."

Warehouse 13
Commercial and Leisure District.
Seng Karash

Two figures moved quietly through the district in the darkness, ignoring parties of young employees on nights out, until they reached a subtle doorway across the street from the city wall. Opposite them a large neon sign shaped like a Hutt indicated the cities newest karaoke bar, the Blue Hutt. Sai grinned when he saw it; the Keibatsu family's devotion to the subtle arts of the karaoke was well known. He moved his gaze to the subtle doorway and pressed a hand to a plate next to it. It slid open and he stepped inside, as the lights flickered on to reveal a large packed room.

Dyrra looked around, impressed at the banks of terminals linked with Marakith above and the rest of the Clan's operations, and at the racks of weapons at the back. "Quite the setup, I had no idea it was here."

"I set it a few months ago," The Epis replied, "seemed sensible to have a more direct location to keep an eye on things if we ever needed it."

She nodded, "Indeed," the Quaestor replied, "Soolin and Jade ought to have made contact by now, We can slip our people in here as warehouse operatives, a few deliveries of people and equipment won't raise any eyebrows."

Sai nodded. "Then we start raising hell."

She smiled. "Just bare in mind what we're aiming to do," she replied, "and I want a city left to govern when we've finished."
The Sadow grinned. "I'll make a note of that somewhere."

Resettlement Centre
Aeotheran

Deliverance nodded politely as Gavroche showed the former Sergeant back in. Verdane gave a quick bow in response. "The Doctor seems satisfied with your condition," she told him. "You're in. Let's take a walk."

He shrugged. "If you want." She lead him out into the crowds outside. Night was falling and people were clustered around the fires eating whatever they could find.

"Alright Sergeant, you might prove yourself useful. You know Dlarit's operations here?"

"Pretty well," he replied, "served in quite a few locations on Aeotheran. They moved us around from time to time. Served in the city, and a few of the mines."

She glanced up at Marakith. "And on there?"

"He shook his head. "They have their elite force for that, the special operations group. They kept their distance from us ordinary soldiers."

"Fair enough," she replied, "what else can you tell me."

"Might know some other people who'd want to join, good people."

She raised an eyebrow. "Other soldiers?"

"Former soldiers," he corrected her, "Dlarit's having a cull of it's people. Cutbacks. Profits must be down maybe, I don't know the reason, but a lot of good soldiers found their way into enforced retirement. Few might be around here."

She considered this. "I check out anyone who comes in Verdane," she replied, "I don't want anyone with us who might still be loyal to Dlarit."

"Look lady," Verdane said stopping suddenly, "we weren't patriots, we were mercenaries. They paid well, nice quarters, Kar Alabrek was kind of fun before it got torched, but we were still mercs. We fought for pay. We didn't buy the glorious future with Dlarit bull. But we don't appreciate suddenly being dumped, and if former soldiers are here they're in the same crap as the rest of us."

"Very well," she replied, "I'll give it some thought, if anyone useful turns up let me know."

She stopped as a police officer stepped in front of them. He glanced at the big figure of Verdane who kept his face covered. "You know anything about an attack on two officers earlier?"

"Can't say I do," Verdane replied, moving his hood aside subtly to reveal his features and the officer's face blanched.

Deliverance spoke up. "Excuse us officer, my father and I are just looking for some medical supplies, he's in a lot of pain. We don't know anything about an attack."

The policeman nodded. "Very well," he said looking a bit more sympathetic, "here, this might help. Not that strong I take them for my joint pain." He fumbled in his pocket and produced a small bottle of pills and pressed them into Verdane's hand. "They're better than nothing. Good luck."

"Grateful to you," Verdane replied pocketing the pills quickly.

The officer watched them go, then spoke quietly into his wrist link. "Captain Senth here, The Battlelord has met up with the V.O.J. I've given him the transmitter."

"Well done Captain," Raistlin's voice replied, "we'll start our people moving.

Well, the good news is that things are still ramping up...so you haven't missed much guys. You could write about receiving the homing beacon and describe what you see as you walk through the warehouse district. You could also write about attempting to get close to Ven Dastari and his campaign headquarters...or, you could come have a drink with me at the Blue Hutt! ;)

The story's completely open (like, really, there's absolutely no preplanned outcome for anything) so feel free to write yourself into any of the city plots.

For a visual analogy, I've always thought of Seng Karash like Midgar from Final Fantasy 7, i.e. big industrial metropolis, broken into different districts, big city wall around the outside that lets nobody in or out, with a far reaching network of railways that ship hundreds of miners out of the city to the mines each day. Think the Mako Reactors that are dotted around the planet--here it's a similar thing with Dlarit's mining outposts. Also, again like FF7, it's the only city on Aeotheran, so basically: if you don't live in Seng Karash, you're screwed, as the rest of the planet is an overgrown mass of savage jungle like Kashyyyk or Dxun and such.

Now, during the Vong War, lots of refugees fled to the Orian system (as we were "safe" from the Vong), but we never had the space so they were forced into some really shanty accommodation that we hastily erected right outside the city. However, now the war's over and we want to get on with our lives, we've just carted all the refugees away to the "Resettlement Center" (which is anything but). The idea is that they're now "out of sight, out of mind", basically. Publicly we've claimed we're doing all we can to help find these people new homes back on whatever planet they originally came from.

But Dastari is this big city executive who for his own reasons (be they benevolent or sinister) is championing the neglected refugee underclass. And then there's "Deliverance" who is this refugee who's become head of a terrorist group called Voice of Justice, demanding equal treatment.

In short, we're a bunch of total jackasses who have booted all the poor war refugees out to a shanty town made up of tents (hence "Tent City") where they will either cope on their own or else can die for all we care. We've currently got our own problems as we're still repairing the damage the Vong caused (our fleet is still undergoing repairs, our military garrison Kar Alabrek was ruined, etc), meaning we can't help everyone, so Dastari and Voice of Justice are a monumental pain in the backside that we could do without.

This is what six years of uninterrupted galaxy-wide warfare and fear of invasion will get you... the fighting may be over, but the social unrest is still being felt.

Blame those nasty Tarthos boys for stealing what was meant to be the refugees' home, Markosian City. Bad Ragnosians, it's all your fault.

EDIT: Forgot about Marakith; basically, Marakith's a huge military station that floats above the city and is manned exclusively by the special ops troops who actually know that we're darksiders (nobody else does). So we live in this nice big, heavily armed orbital military installation, the employed citizens live in the comfy commerce city directly below it, enjoying the best money can buy, and the refugees have been forced to forage out in the monster infested wilds.

Yeah, we're a real bunch of Mother Teresas, aren't we? O-)

I'm going to do a post tommorow with us deciding on a mission with Deliverance and some of her people hitting one of the main monorail lines that go from the mines across the planet to Seng Karash. This ought to be a nice simple mission except that it's going to go badly wrong with our interference.

Anyone else wanting to join up write yourselves arriving or I can put you in.

My bad, forgot that the team with Deliverance don't have their lightsabers with them... editted my post to blasters. :$

Xanos

30-04-2010 11:16:24

So... Etenia was killed off early as she was just a tease about Hafa Chun to explain how the Ekind weren't all killed off like previously thought should people ever want to fight some mutant jungle savages.

The mystery of Rob Rowaan is rather more significant... as you will discover as the rest of the story unfolds. ;)

Malisane

01-05-2010 05:50:51

My last post should have given a big clue to exactly what Deliverance is, though she's not entirely sure herself yet. She's no where near as strong or resilient as the Firak the creature we met earlier but she's pretty impressive. The rest of her people are normal but have just taken the steroids that we got issued with on the shuttle so they are also stronger faster and more resilient than they normally would be but they are just normal humans/trandoshans/zabraks etc, aside from Carolides her Trandoshan lietenant who is heavily modified with cybernetic impants etc but even Deliverance doesn't know.

Malisane

02-05-2010 13:23:44

Yeah, the only thing to avoid is actual lightsabers and sith swords that have "I'm a dark jedi" written all over them. Though the V.O.J supplied arms to anyone who wanted them if you turned up and said "this is my favourite blaster had it years" they probably had a look at it to make sure it wasn't a disguised bomb/camera then said "Ok nice gun." and gave you it back.

16-05-2010 16:02:03

I've left the specifics of where Deliverance chooses to go apekriff for someone else. I know Malisane's got some ideas for her raiding a mine. While we'd probably just nuke it, it's possible maybe the President of Dlarit Mining or the City Mayor was doing an inspection tour that day or something? (Beach fight!? :P) Dunno. Lots of possibilities. Malisane also mentions possibly Lor Zatean if we wanted some difference scenery? The other option would be the finale takes place in Tent City and everyone is caught in the crossfire solving the refugee problem... *shrug*

Depends what kind of battle people want, really. A mine is more isolated, so lightsabers would be permitted. Lor Zatean, again we could get away with it if we did it in the "Sith-only executive beach" place -- which perhaps fits her goals best? As it'd not be taking it out on the workers, but on the capitalist city executives? Tent City? If everyone ended up dead, then maybe; depends if we think that's a feasible result or if it'd be a PR disaster? Dunno. I think having the refugees adds a bit of flavour personally, so'd like keeping some around though.

Anyway, suffice to say, having just basically been told she was grown in a tank (I think the idea's actually it was IVF or something... but... Rob obviously doesn't know the specifics, he's just taking a wild guess), it's like she's just been given the "missing link" in her life which has never made sense. She's always known there was something different about her, now she's got her answer. Rowaan may not have any way of knowing exactly what she is, but he took an educated guess after she crushed a rifle into a cube... it's not like most people can do that :P

So... now that Deliverance is ready to embrace her true nature as a Force-nullifying hunter (think Ysalamiri perhaps? Dunno. All I really know is she's a humanoid version from the same lab experiment as the beast earlier in the story, just whereas the beast, Firak, was pretty much a walking death machine, she's a rather more subtle test tube monster with a heart), and since Voice of Justice are now totally discredited, she's now on her way to... somewhere, where she'll probably kill a lot of people, shed a lot of blood, wanting to draw Dlarit out for a final battle royale in which she's done with the Miss Nice Girl act and just wants to hammer home her demands until we submit.

Or something. She's gone completely crazy, basically, and with Generator Two blown up, now we're into Act III.

But these are just ideas, so take what you want, ignore what you don't like, etc. I'm happy either way. We'll just have to wait and see what Deliverance does. :D

Oh, and about "‘You!’ Gavroche barked, pulling his blaster on him.", you'll find out exactly who Gavroche saw when Rowaan unwrapped his scarf in my next post. ;)

Malisane

16-05-2010 18:41:42

Now per my post Dastari is in a shuttle out looking for Deliverance, his nicey nicey public image blown away by shots of his security guy killing someone.

The idea I had was Deliverance wants to hurt Dlarit but is still opposed to killing civilians. There's a private area of the holiday island of Lor Zatean called Dlarit Beach, which is where Clan Members go for a holiday in the sun without having to meet ordinary people. Lot's of private villas and mansions, which are also used by senior military people who know we're Sith and Dlarit executives who we keep tight control on. The lack of ordinary soldiers and workers means we can do whatever we like there.

Publicly it's known as the private place where the posh senior management go and probably a source of resentment to the ordinary workers. Deliverance would see it as the ultimate example of corporate decadence and a prime target to hit to seriously annoy the management. So she's going to want to blow it up. Nice big explosion, lots of damage and dead executives and their families who she sees as heartless corporate scum.

We'd track her there to stop her, and also meet Dastari's mob who are heading the same way.

Xanos

27-05-2010 12:44:07

In case you've forgotten who Etenia was, she was the Ekind I wrote about at the start of the run-on, who was killed in a duel with Malisane. Her sword is effectively a Sith Sword, so Deliverance now has a lightsaber resistant weapon to duel with, which together with her superstrength/speed/etc should make the eventual final battle more interesting.

Also, Deliverance "smelling" Rowaan/Fett was meant to be a reference to the idea she's starting to develop the ability to sniff out Force-users... so slowly becoming the "Jedi hunter" she was created to be; a humanoid version of the experiment encountered back in the forest at the abandoned mine.

Fremoc

29-05-2010 13:04:39

I have a funny feeling everyone's changing the "Saints are Coming" song to the "Mandos are Coming" :P

Xanos

29-05-2010 15:37:13

Only trouble with "Mandos" is it's two syllables, verd, siit, or ade might work better... :P

All battle cries aside, as a quick summary for anyone a bit unsure: the villa is... big enough. How big is anyone's guess; but big enough for some decent fighting. Personally, in my own head I've got this big combination-beach front/country estate pictured, with internal courtyards and gardens and swimming pools and things, all overlooking the ocean.

In terms of guards, there's basically two groups. Most will be the skinny refugees from tent city who've been handed big, heavy guns. And then there's the smaller number of armed hitmen that flew in from Seng Karash, who are pumped up on steroids and cybernetics and more than ready for a fight.

Some of you may have fought them on the criminal space station Refuge in the Underworld run-on earlier this year. They're the same group, so you might sense a connection.

Malisane

29-05-2010 18:35:26

The main difference is though that the ones we met on Refuge were criminal scum, these are focused agents working for shadowy employers they're not going to surrender or run away any more than we are.

They also have state of the art technology, best armour, best blasters, neutronium lightsaber resistant blades, they're good. Typically I'd put the 9 remaining agents at somewhere between JH and DJK level and Kelvert and Carolides above that. They're tough opponents, fast, quick, intelligent and with a degree of natural force resistance.

And that, one and all, is what's known as good old Sadow Force Blasting and Heart Stunning. >:)

EDIT: Oh, and btw, for those confused about Bob's different names: when Bob joined the DB back in 1998, he went by Bob Fett. He left the DB for a bit, coming back under the name Rob Rowan, until (I think) just after the Split in 2003, when Trev realised Rob was Bob, which was when he changed back to Bob [Robert], only this time with the surname Daragon instead of Fett.

I know a few of you crusty old timers already guessed that Rob was Bob. But for everyone else, now you know why Bob Fett still means Robert Daragon, and why it's made it easy for me to keep up the identity crisis for duration of the run-on. :P

In any case, Bob's involvement was mostly a teaser for a forthcoming run-on... surprise, surprise, featuring Bob. His part in Unrest in the City is now over, and has also contributed to Sai and Malisane heading off to the Bastion with him before anyone else realises he's gone native (Tron's very first apprentice going wacko isn't good for Sadow PR :$)—which, in addition, means instead of the same crusty old timers getting to take Deliverance out, that's now left to everyone else for a change. ;)

So on with the terrorist whooping! :P

10-06-2010 18:40:21

As the final battle has begun, just thought it may be worth throwing out a reminder that Deliverance still has the dead Ekind, Etenia's Sith sword... so she's got a weapon to duel with. (Not that she necessarily needs it with her hyperenhanced strength and speed, and her sort of partially Force-nulling ysalamiri-effect, as she can probably disarm and take a weapon if she needs.) >:)

Beyond that, you've got your squad of enhanced guards; and the two top operatives Carolides (a Trandoshan) and Kelvert, both also mega-enhanced with all sorts of Mando-inspired anti-Jedi stuff. :D

Roxas

19-06-2010 21:58:00

[thnx for informing me Teu]

okay so I figured since she can block our blaster fire some of us should keep firing to draw her attention while others sneak up behind her and use their lightsabers. after that the ones that were previding the destraction could give support by providing cover from the swarms of enemeis comming rushing into the battle.

Xanos

20-06-2010 10:11:37

A distraction to get around the back makes sense, yeah. ;)

Deliverance is basically the "final boss" of the story. Kelvert and Carolides are then her two main guardians. And the other bioenhanced warriors are the dungeon trash mobs.

In order of increasing difficulty:

The trash are essentially bodybuilders on steroids;

Kelvert and Carolides are similar, but with a range of cybernetic implants and Mando-style anti-Jedi weaponry;

Deliverance herself is an artificially created lifeform engineered in a laboratory to be the perfect Jedi hunter, with reflexes equivalent to Force speed, a sense of smell equivalent to Force senses, accelerated regrowth equivalent of Force healing, etc. What a Jedi can do, she's been engineered to combat, and has a cortosis sword to parry lightsabers.

She also has the detonator for the bomb, so that'll also have to be addressed somehow. (Lose the hand holding it or something?)

Although it currently isn't yet in position to blow up the island, so if it goes off it will probably just destroy the villa. Given she's from the same laboratory as the beast you fought in the jungle, that means she might be capable of resurrecting herself, so depending on how long/epic you want the fight to be, theoretically you could "kill" her, then kill the others, only to have her then get up again, everyone wonder WTF is going on, and finally kick her down the hole before she can finish regenerating and set the bomb off yourselves, blowing her to smithereens and preventing her from coming back to life again (clearly, you'd all need to leg it out the villa before it collapsed).

Dunno. Just a random idea I had the other night for if you wanted the battle to be more than a straightforward fight. "Zombie", and all that. :P

(Oh, and who created Deliverance (and why) shall be remaining a mystery until a future story... O-) )

Roxas

20-06-2010 18:31:52

Well my plan is to have everyone with a blaster provide cover while I load an unlethal round into a sniper rifle. Then our freinds who have exceptional skill with lightsabers provide a distraction by fighting in close combat with her, then I shoot the detonator from her hand and we open a can of whoop ass on her, nock her out or down an elevator shaft get the hell out of dodge and blow the place up. >:)

Teu

20-06-2010 20:04:41

Essentially me and Locke will be setting the bomb up to blow up once Deliverance is knocked out or what not....if anymore questions about what i did ask and i will answer.

Methyas

21-06-2010 01:50:54

Alright, so we're set up for the final run now and don't expect it to be easy. Teu and Locke have splintered from the main group to provide a flanking movement so they can repurpose the bomb to destroy the Villa and all the members of the Voice of Justice with it, however their plan has been kind of complicated with Carolides the Trandoshan and a small group moving to keep them from doing their job. The remainder of the Voice of Justice with Deliverance and Kelvert are fighting the rest of us (those of us with guns and those of us with sabers) to make sure Teu and Locke can't get any help.

These guys are tough; previously a good number of us Sadowans fought people like this on Refuge trying to take down the Underworld. Alone, a good deal of us are asking to be killed while as a team they'll give us a beating along with some bruises and scars to remember them by but we'll hold our own.

In Brotherhood terms, our enemies are pretty easy to grade.
Deliverance ~ EQ3 - Elder
Kelvert (Human), Carolides (Trandoshan) ~ EQ2 - EQ3
Additional Goons ~ DJK - EQ1

Before worrying about us being unable to stop them, remember that the tougher ones are fewer in number than us and are cornered. We're smarter than they are and have an EQ1 and EQ2 with us (Fremoc and Jade respectively) to help keep us out of complete and utter trouble.

Hope this helps all, and may the Force be with you all!

Macron Sadow

You have an EQ4 on the way... ;) One who has a rather sordid reputation. Hang in there!

Nekura Manji

26-06-2010 16:08:45

Manji should be popping in as well, but I'm not going to steal the glory from anyone, just provide backup. :)

Once this arc passes is there going to be a "in story" break or anything? I am trying to find the best time for Kano to make a return.

Xanos

26-06-2010 18:58:27

Well, Fremoc's working on a new Tarthos story arc that will be starting more-or-less straight after, but whether that means the very next day, or if we'll have a week or two of downtime to have a break? Not sure.

Regardless of what happens in RL, I think the plan is for there to be a bit of a break fictionally, with a sort of "Two weeks later..." after Malisane (?) posts the "ending" post after Deliverance is dead, so there'll have been time for you to pop to Mandalore and back.

Depends what your trip to Mandalore entailed, I guess? If you want it to be longer than a couple of weeks, I don't think there'll be much preventing "Two months later...", but... not totally sure. Probably easiest just to give Fremoc a bell.

(In basic terms though, I think the idea is pretty much that once Deliverance is dead, everyone will be hanging around on Aeotheran for a bit to help tidy stuff up, make sure Seng Karash is okay, keep a bit of a watch until the streets are orderly again, any protests break up, expose any of the last VOJ spies still in Tent City, yadda, yadda, blah, blah. Then BOOM. Stuff happens on Tarthos while we're all away, sending us jumping into our ships to head there fast.)

[Oh, and Bob's going to be squatting it out in the Bastion until after the Tarthos arc, so his story will be continued after Tarthos, when the mysteries of Aeotheran will finally be revealed.]

Kano Tor Pepoi

26-06-2010 22:15:56

Sounds like everything should be good. What I have written up for my character could easily happen in a week to 2 week time limit. I will get a hold of Fremoc to go over it. Thanks.

Macron Sadow

26-06-2010 22:18:10

Oh btw, Aisha (my fictional apprentice) is equivalent to an EQ1 Sith warrior. I'm intenjding to go after Deliverance if that's alright.

Fremoc

26-06-2010 23:44:54

By all means Mac, go for it.. Just don't forget you do have me, dyrra, Jade, Methyas, and god knows who else down there :P

Also in terms of the new Story Arc, i'll be laying out a new post in the next few days.. Had a bit of a writers block.. musta been all the booze up in Canada :P

But yes, there's going to be a slight delay.. A couple weeks allowing people to heal *coughs* methyas *coughs* as well as anyone else whos messed up from fighting..

Macron Sadow

27-06-2010 01:57:41

Oh I don't intend to hog the action at all. I figure we'll work as a team. As well, I may not be able to take Deliverance by myself but I can certainly keep her well-occupied while the rest of our group finishes the others and deals with the bomb.... Then we can jump her as a group and she has no chance.

I may even be able to cut her hand with the detonator off, or maybe rip it off with the Armor Fist. ;)

Macron Sadow

28-06-2010 21:35:47

Okay somebody post! Let's get this battle done so we can move on to Xanos' next runon idea. I'm so excited to be back in the proverbial saddle again!

*coughs* My run on idea's next... *cough*

Macron Sadow

28-06-2010 23:14:07

Oh sorry! I though it was Xanos' from his comment. I really like the idea though. Can hardly wait- necromancy is something I know a bit about. I'm a HUGE horror/HP Lovecraft fan.

Fremoc

28-06-2010 23:16:16

Check it out :P

Sorry for the delay peeps!

Xanos

29-06-2010 04:36:47

Mac, in the interim while you wait, you might find it interesting to read the Ekind wiki page. I've been updating it a bit recently in time for the Lost Tribe story. (Still need to finish the last few updates, but the information is now basically all there.)

And, yeah, Deliverance was Malisane and Sai's story. Tarthos is Fremoc's. And after Tarthos I'll be doing the Bob one.

Macron Sadow

30-06-2010 23:38:56

I'd like to make a combat post with the fight currently ongoing.... but I'd rather someone else in thwe team post first in that scene. Any takers?

Right cool if people want to bail off to Tarthos or whereever I can finish the Gavroche/suspicious ship off the coast bit.

The Tarthos bit won't start fictionally for weeks after this.. gives people time to heal that have been injured..

What is the next major step in this mission, other than escaping the island?

Xanos

05-07-2010 18:57:28

Well, you just need to clean up the last few thugs (not sure if Carolides and Kelvert are down?), finish defusing the bomb (I think?), maybe blow the building up (quick way to deal with the stragglers if you like)... and that's a wrap. Job done.

Then it's just some casual downtime until a "Several weeks later..." post from Fremoc starts the new story.

Fremoc

05-07-2010 20:16:22

part 3 was pretty short.. but the final post.. that'll be probably something that will rival a post of yours goat :P

06-07-2010 09:12:35

Is that a challenge? >:)

Kano Tor Pepoi

06-07-2010 11:18:04

I went ahead and started to prep for Kano's return. Once this arc is complete and the next one starts I should find a perfect time to come back into play.

Fremoc

06-07-2010 17:23:41

technically the current arc is pretty much done.. now its all filler until i write my "several weeks later" post..

and yes goat.. its very much a challenge :P

Fremoc

08-07-2010 13:17:31

So... who wants me to start the new story arc?

Yup, may as well get the next party started, Fremoc. :D

PS: And as you all probably guessed from Malisane's "ending" post: even though she never realised it herself, Deliverance was just the beginning. >:)

But the mystery of Councillor Zero is, as they say, another story. O-)

PPS: Oh, and, yes, Bob is both currently walled up in the Bastion on Aeotheran AND with Shan Long in Kalekka Tower on Antei...WTK?!

Fremoc

08-07-2010 16:47:48

The next arc has begun..

HMR is currently the only peeps on the ground on Tarthos with HLK and the rest on the way.. Lots of openings for people to get involved.. any questions.. ask

Btw the Deliverance arc, is done and over with, and this post is fictionally set SEVERAL WEEKS later... this way everyone is all healed. Hope that clears up anything

Xanos

08-07-2010 17:25:08

And now we know why there were no refugee camp riots on Tarthos...

The Ekind had already dealt with them for us :P

EDIT: Figured it might be helpful to do a summary of the wiki article and how it meshes with Fremoc's recent lead-in posts:

The Ombi were the original inhabitants of the then-called Sepros system. Then Urias Orian arrived (5100 years ago). Like Naga Sadow turning Red Sith into Massassi mutants, Orian mutated the Ombi into Ekind, before killing the natural Ombi. Orian was then betrayed by the Ombi-turned-Ekind Princess Hafalia Chunasca, whose actions killed him, trapping his spirit in the Amulet of Orian.

Fast forward to the modern era. Only a few Ekind were left when we arrived, most of them on Sepros. They saw us as another group of invaders out to repeat Orian's crimes. The few on Aeotheran and Tarthos caused a bit of trouble, but we exterminated their villages shortly after we arrived (14 years ago). There were a lot more on Sepros, but they were ritually sacrificed and obliterated (4 years ago) and we believed the Ekind were at long last extinct.

Fast forward again to the present. This Lost Tribe has appeared, defying our comprehension, as we believed the Ekind to be extinct. Even if they are few, how these handful of Ekind even exist is a shock, and the fact they're leading a giant legion of mutants and zombies is rather more worrying still... particularly when Kar Alabrek still lies in ruins and contaminated with toxins (that mutate people) from the Vong attack 2 years ago. So, seeing loads of these mutants is a concerning development, as the contamination was meant to be contained to Kar Alabrek's ruins... but now the meant-to-be-extinct Ekind have spread the meant-to-be-contained contamination...

Roxas

08-07-2010 22:08:37

Okay, so we are going to be attacked, should we make traps in the forest ahead of us, or wait for them to be dropped? Cuz we could put holes in the ground with spikes in them and cover them so enemies fall in. or spring traps were they hit a trip wire and get hit with a tree that is bent back and covered with spikes......these are all guerilla war fare techniques.
Or we could have someone fly around in a fighter to patrole the area.

Mirado

10-07-2010 04:22:34

Well I've got Ven setting up surveillance and caches but I can't imagine he's the only one tasked outdoors.

Fremoc

10-07-2010 06:46:52

Everyone is already outside.. All they are waiting on is the attack to begin.. I think everyone right now is getting some character development in before the initial assault begins..

Fremoc

10-07-2010 08:30:02

Should just put this out there.. This is Act 1 of my run on.. the defense of Mucenic.

Xanos

12-07-2010 17:26:15

Araic Simonetti's now high-tailing it out of the refugee camp on Aeotheran to the Final Way in orbit, then hurrying across system to Tarthos, with a brief stop at Gamuslag to pick up Macron and the clonetroopers at the Cenota Facility.

So if anyone on Aeotheran wants a quick way to get to Mucenic on Tarthos, just head on up to the Final Way and come along for the ride.

EDIT: Btw, it occurred to me whilst writing my post that the simplest way of picturing the attackers is perhaps an army of zombies, led by the odd Ekind witchdoctor and their guardians; i.e. loads of dead humans, aliens, Vong, marines, etc, from Kar Alabrek's ruins, commanded by the somehow-not-extinct Ekind. Hence Araic being pissed at his girlfriend's corpse coming back to life.

Hey, maybe we could use some of the recent AWOLees as zombies? :P

Macron Sadow

13-07-2010 22:39:20

Liking the idea Xanos. The "witchdoctors" would basically be force adepts if I get you right.

Xanos

14-07-2010 04:09:12

Well, Force-sensitivity in Ekind is very rare, and Aeratas (the Lost Tribe's leader) is in charge because he's almost a freak of nature in having been born sensitive to the Force.

But, yeah, that's basically what I was thinking of by "witchdoctors". Maybe instead of natural Force-sensitivity, they're supplementing it via trinkets and amulets and the like?

Etenia, the Ekind I briefly used during the Voice of Justice story, she wasn't Force-sensitive, but she fought Malisane as she had a Sith sword (the one that Deliverance ended up with), so I suppose these could be similar, but with other magic talismans and necklaces and stuff.

Fremoc

14-07-2010 11:29:09

Araxis Farron

Time for me to get into this shiz, epic ending on your last post btw Fremoc

Macron Sadow

15-07-2010 22:01:25

Well done everybody!

Well, things are heating up. I've put Fremoc in fictional chage of the DSOG assets on Tarthos as QUA (and Commander, and Governor, etc etc). Plus fictionally although Macron is a strategic genius as far as capital ships and artillery goes, special ops and personnel are not his best areas. In fact, I suck donkey nuts at flying starfighters and following orders, lol. Kill! Kill! hehehe

Really though, your character can't be awesome at everything so having an "achilles heel" adds depth to your persona.

Xanos

16-07-2010 04:30:54

Achilles heel... I have one of those... it involves me being dead. :P

Malisane

16-07-2010 09:48:09

Macron was Commander of Sapphire Squadron and he sucks at flying starfighters? Wasn't there some sort of pilot's test :P

Xanos

16-07-2010 10:16:28

Sapphire survived on luck, seals... and beer. Lots and lots of beer.

Sai

16-07-2010 18:05:17

Hehe...too much, you guys!

In my latest post, you'll note that I've gone to Antei. The reality is that I've signed up for the Voice's Run-On Comp, and fictionally, as bad-assed as Sai is, he cannot be in two places at once (Does that count as one of those heel thingies?)

Anyway, this goes into my initial reasoning behind the creation of this runon. Its unrealistic to think that we ALL will always be around to handle business, ya dig?

In any case, I'll be checking in on this arc from time to time; keep doing what you guys are doing; I'm unspeakably proud of the way you guys have taken to this li'l project, and at how well it seems to have been received.

Wish me luck in the other runon, folks!

Fremoc

16-07-2010 18:12:53

Macron Sadow

19-07-2010 23:31:57

Well- i've made a post that brings Ashura into the Mucenic command center on Tarthos. I'm bringing some old CNS artifacts into play so as to give us an advantage over the Ekind and add some flavor to the fight. Xanos, this would be a great time to write a holocron-shade post... as only you can do it.

Xanos

20-07-2010 04:17:52

Well... for my next post, Fremoc's asked if I can do a bit about the antagonist; but I'll see if I can slip in a holocron-shade, too.

Roxas

20-07-2010 11:48:23

Congrats on the new saber Methyas.

Xanos

20-07-2010 13:54:37

Holocron scene got more involved than I predicted, so I'll be doing the antagonist scene for Fremoc in my next post instead.

Roxas

21-07-2010 14:58:58

The ties bombing the planet are the our's or the enemies?

Methyas

21-07-2010 15:02:18

The Ekind are more of a nomadic people that have been lurking underground for the last several years, those Bombers are ours clearing out the enemy forces.

Ok, I just wanted to be sure, because they are getting pretty close to hittin us.

Araxis Farron

24-07-2010 14:29:02

I believe the first phase (aka what we are doing) was suppose to end with Methyas' post.... am I mistaken? Cause thats how I read it >_>

Xanos

24-07-2010 15:04:43

I assume Act 1 is pretty much at its close now, yeah.

Now that Methyas's planted the Banner of Revulsion and hurled the Ekind off the hilltop, and with the reappearance of Shan Long from his four years of exile with reinforcements from the Obsidian Cohort, I imagine the last stragglers will all be cleaned up pretty quickly.

Then... onto Markosian to help out General Cargas before the city's overrun?

EDIT: Oh, just noticed that with Trev's post, that now makes this the longest run-on we've done outside of a GJW. Nice job all! :D

EDIT #2: IMPORTANT: REGARDING HOUSE NAGA SADOW

Sorry for the bold, but I wanted to be sure people who'd already checked my earlier post caught the edit. :P

Fremoc, Mac, Sai, Bob, Trev and I have been discussing the fictional reorganisation into HNS. I shan't bore you all with the fine details right now, but in short: it will happen between Acts 2 and 3. So, before anyone hurries off to write about everyone suddenly being in HNS or the Lord Consul now being the Lord Quaestor, that won't be happening for a few weeks as we want to build up to it during Act 2 first.

So, just remember to hold fire and carry on as before... the reformation will be explained in a few weeks time. ;)

Suffice it to say, when Sai returns from Antei, he'll be bringing someone rather important back with him...

Araxis Farron

24-07-2010 17:47:34

Yay! Thanks Xanos for explaining that to me. Grats to everyone for the longest RO outside of zee GJW :)

Just as a note on my last couple of posts. Firstly the Cenota facility and most of the prison above it has just been destroyed, mainly to bring it in line with what's on the wiki and also to further implicate Agent 7. Whatever we suspect about someone or someones messing with us this currently looks like an unfortunate accident.

Secondly the sith spawned ewoks are currently on Aeotheran doing their best to contain Project Firak until we want to face it. Firak is a future opponent of the House and though we sort of got lucky last time we don't currently have any method of taking it down its sort of an uber opponent.

Sai

26-08-2010 10:05:05

Just wanted everyone to be sure that the 'Aisha' previously mentioned is Macron's NPC apprentice...NOT 'Ashia', Muz' wife.

Xanos

26-08-2010 12:17:05

And "Ash" could refer to either Ashia or Ashura... so stay alert :P

So... is Act 2 coming to an end now? Mucenic and Markosian seem more or less secure, the Summit and Elders are all assembled in Orian Manor, Tron's just broken the news that all need to quit their bickering and pledge their full allegiance to Sadow, and Mactavish has sent word that the battle is far from over with the true threat still waiting in Castle Alabrek...

Muz said in his report that the RoS is hopefully October 1st, so that gives us just over a month for Act 3 then?

Xanos

28-08-2010 12:06:40

I know the Conclave of the Clan's leaders is still going down inside the Manor, however I figured if anyone else wants to make a start toward gearing up for the final assault, I've sent the Final Way down to land; so others can be heading out to the valley to gear up and, er, "get your tank on", while the elders are having their spat, if anyone would prefer to be doing that.

Mirado

Xanos

01-09-2010 14:26:41

Well, Xanos isn't at the Final Way, but I know what you mean. :P

I wrote Admiral Simonetti landing the Final Way based on Fremoc's original plan to have the assault on Kar Alabrek be an all guns blazing thing. The LAATs would all be getting offloaded from the Final Way, so I suppose the logic is that anyone already on their way to Kar Alabrek (Methyas, etc) have off-screen already done their stop-off at the Final Way to pick up their supplies, board their shuttle, and get underway?

Roxas

01-09-2010 15:24:48

OK. thanks for explaining it I was aliitle lost. lol

You can now put those big bad storm clouds above Kar Alabrek down to Trev tearing open the fabric of spacetime back in Orian Manor.

So, as always, Golden Rule #1: Blame Trev. :P

Alas, now Hafa Chun has tapped into said rift and unleashed it upon Trev in return... the queen is not amused with the man who sacrificed the Tribe of Sepros.

I'm alittle confused. Who was turned into ashes?

Xanos

09-09-2010 14:13:51

One of the soldiers inside the Cathedral who arrived with Trev (the Mandalorian the soldier saw talking to Trev was you).

In effect, Hafalia has drawn the lightning storm that was above Kar Alabrek inside the Cathedral, forcing you to fall back outside again to regroup -- where I suppose the Ekind will now attack you in the courtyard with their elite Ceremonial Guard (which could perhaps be led by that Warlord that Methyas created? Question for Methyas and Fremoc, I guess?).

How exactly you now get inside to the Inner Sanctum I suppose depends on how you dispel the Force Storm, which might take either Trev, Muz or Tron to do. At the end of the day, Hafalia is a 5000 year old sorceress who was trained by and killed Urias Orian, so you're up against dark powers of the very worst kind... especially when she's still angry at Trev for sacrificing the Last Tribe of Sepros en masse a few years ago.

Right now, you've got a very angry lady taking her rage out on Trev... and you're all in the firing line :P

For those of us who are lame and haven't read the entire run-on but are somewhat jumping in as it moves along, could we get a list of Dramatis personæ? I'm seeing a lot of names, some I recognize but not sure about their role and such.

Following Fremoc's post, everyone are basically now all meant to be at the Entrance Hall, having run into a dead end due to the doors that could only be opened by a HMR Elder.

Trev's now opened them, so the group have moved inside the library-proper -- to where Akrellum Peirus, the Warlord of the Alabrek Tribe, has been waiting with the Ekind priesthood's Honour Guard, the elite warriors of the Tribe.

So, that's basically where everyone's at now. (While it seems to have mostly happened off screen) you've fought through the Fallout-looking wastes of Kar Alabrek, battled through the shambling mounds of resurrected corpses, into the ruins of Castle Alabrek, where the Ekind leaders are waiting.

The wiki page that Methyas put together before the run-on lists the main antagonists.

In addition to Akrellum the Warlord, the other main combatant is probably Othalo Keram, who is more a stealthy assassin. Though he hasn't appeared yet, I imagine it's reasonable to assume that while everyone's engaged the Warlord's fighters, Othalo and his assassins might be sneaking up to jump everybody later on during the battle.

(That's actually what I've possible got in mind for a post in a couple of days, with these assassins dropping from the top of the hundred foot bookshelves.)

Xanos

18-09-2010 09:08:58

Aaaaand done. Othalo and his clerics have now leapt down from the heavens into the middle of the melee.

As Ekind-POV can sometimes be a bit unclear, a few quick qualifications:

- The "demon king" referred to by Hafa Chun is Muz.

- The woman who takes cover behind said demon king before the doorway is blown open is Ashia.

- The Rod of Ombus/Scepter of the Gods is the Scepter of Urias Orian, but as it is was known to the Ombi before he stole it.

Other than Hafa Chun, the only other people currently in the Ritual Chamber are Aeratas and Nal Yin (Hafa has consumed the souls of the others).

Take these with a touch of salt, but if you want some basic ideas of what Fremoc, I, et al have been working off, then:

Hafa Chun = "GM" (Ombi, so Force-sensitive, and currently pumped up on the Ekind who she's just sucked the life out of)
Aeratas = DA/DJM (the Ekind miracle Force-sensitive chosen one, wearing assortment of Sith artifacts of your choice)
Nal Yin = SWL (the lone Vong, but a Master Shaper with all sorts of venom spitting biots, telepathic control of nearby plants and monsters, etc)

Beyond the big guns, there's still the last Ekind guardians in the Inner Sanctum just outside the Ritual Chamber, and Fremoc's suggested possibly having some giant Vong spiders crawl in through the open roof -- so lots of other combatants if you want to get easily involved! >:)

This is it, everyone! What began waay back on April 3rd is finally entering its final battle! Let's make it a good one!

Fremoc

01-10-2010 15:01:16

Hey guys, just a bit of an FYI. The run on is in like month 1-2 of 33 ABY, while the RoS that we are now involved in takes place in like month 12 of 33ABY. So there is about almost a year's worth of time between the story arc that is just ending, and the RoS.

Xanos

08-10-2010 12:53:09

Ze run-on it livez!!!

Yeah, this thing is not meant to ever have an end, is it? :P

I figured I'd put up my (admittedly badly rushed at the eleventh hour) Week 1 fiction submission... it's abstract enough that it can take place at any time, so doesn't force the story to jump ahead to the RoS. I know Fremoc still wants to do some "During 33 ABY" posts after the RoS, so I guess the run-on won't "catch up" until November or so?

For those lost, in summary form:

(Months of 33 ABY)

1: Voice of Justice uprising on Aeotheran
2:
3: Ekind uprising on Tarthos.
4:
5:
6:
7:
8:
9:
10:
11:
12: Rite of Supremacy: Disorder

So there's been a whole ton of off-screen time, which I guess people might want to write some posts about after the RoS during the last couple of weeks of October? As I say, Fremoc's one I know of for definite, so I'm holding off posting up any RoS submissions that would jump us forward in time (not that all RoS submissions will even be run-on suitable, but the few that are I'll probably post eventually).

Ok, so I have Ven doing a quick job for his master. I didn't plan on this being a big deal, I just wanted to show that real honest breaks are pretty few and far between. I just wanted to throw some more words down. So Ashura is presumed dead. News of the duel from the pilot will reach members but those of higher levels will not be able to sense Ashura through the Force. As for Aleho, everyone will know she will have slain her master, although it would seem preposterous a young Knight can kill a Warlord, so only those who know about Curwen Sunei and what he did to her will understand it wasn't really Aleho who 'killed' Ashura. Just so we know, Aleho is not to be killed off. ;)

I have to agree with you on the first person perspective for character development. I might do a bit for the clone I'm working on. If you look at books like the Twilight saga you can see how first person perspective can be used. The thing about run-on's my dear, is your writing a piece of the story, it's why a lot of us oldies will write other characters into our posts. You can see the overall picture rather than just a characters perspective.

Yeah, I didn't know about Kano's move until after I'd written my post, so I didn't want to necessarily railroad the rest of the battleteam into something. Rest assured, all you fine Regulators, the whole team mounted up, I just wanted to make sure you had some leeway in what you did when we got there.

PS, it doesn't say the area is Force Dead, just... peculiar. This really only affects Ven and Methyas, but it doesn't shut their sight off, they're just gonna need someone sighted to verify that some or most of what they're seeing is real.

Nifokalija isn't Force dead, no. It's simply... distorted.

The idea was to give Aeotheran a mysterious region where people didn't know what they would find when they explore it.

Visually, it was based on Nibelheim from Final Fantasy 7, i.e. mountains infested with monsters, with a lot of mist thrown in for good measure.

Oh I see, I must have misread it on the wiki. Should I edit it?

What the wiki means where it says the mountains are "shrouded" is that it's difficult to sense anything specific. Curwen Sunei, for example, would be hidden beneath the general disturbance in the Force, as it were. Think how the One Sith are hidden on Korriban. A Force user can go to Korriban and be looking right at the ruined temples where Darth Krayt and the others are hiding, but they still won't sense them, because the general dark side miasma that permeates Korriban masks their presence.

That's all the comment on the wiki is really getting at; they're not completely Force nullifying in the Vong or ysalamiri sense. If anything, they're drowned in TOO MUCH Force energy, so "overcharge" Force senses, so to speak. For Ven, I guess that will mean he'll still be able to see, just... if he wants, he could say that he was seeing bright swirly things everywhere as if he's in a dream. :P

EDIT: Just read your post where you mention going without the Force. Since Nifokalija is basically just meant to be a whacked out place, it could just as easily be that there are some places with too much Force energy, as well as other places that leech it away. So don't worry too much about needing to edit your post if you'd rather be going to a Force dead zone. ;)

In shortish-short summary form:

At the end of 32 ABY/start of 33 ABY (March-May 2010), the Vong War refugees on Aeotheran rose up against the Dlarit Corporation under the banner of a terrorist organisation called the Voice of Justice. Though it was stopped, there remain a lot of unanswered questions, because the weapons and technology the terrorists had were too advanced for poverty-stricken refugees; however, the source of their secret backers currently remains unknown. Malisane has since left Orian to follow the leads and hopefully find answers.

Early in 33 ABY (June-August 2010), a Lost Tribe of Ekind -- the native inhabitants of Orian who were purged back in 19 ABY -- rose up on Tarthos and attacked Mucenic and Markosian City. The Ekind were defeated; however, the tensions between Clansmen led Tron to dismantle the Houses and reorganise all Disciples under the united banner of House Sadow. In the ruined wasteland of Kar Alabrek, which had been destroyed back during the final battle of the Vong War during 31 ABY, the Ekind leadership tried to resurrect their ancient queen Hafalia Chunasca in the ruins of Old Ragnos Cathedral, but they were stopped with the help of Muz, who arrived to assist House Sadow against Dark Lady Hafa Chun. Works are now ongoing to repair parts of Markosian City and Mucenic, with future plans to rebuild Kar Alabrek once the Corporation has the resources.

The Ekind Uprising was fictionally only a few weeks, even though it took months to write, so there was then an entire year of fictional time to flesh out, so lots of personal character stories have been going on since then. The Order War on Antei happened at the very end of 33 ABY (September 2010), although it only lasted three days fictionally. Of the personal stories, however, one of the big ones was that Ashura's apprentice, Aleho, broke into the Cenota Detention Facility on Gamsulag, the moon of Sepros, and freed Curwen Sunei, a madman who came to the Orian system several years ago.

We're now into the early part of 34 ABY. Curwen has recently killed Ashura, in revenge for Ashura having been one of the people who captured Curwen on Inos back at the beginning of 30 ABY (December 2008). Curwen has since fled to the Nifokalija Mountains on Aeotheran, for reasons currently unknown. The Regulators have gone in under Fremoc's orders to bring Curwen back alive; whereas Macron and his team are going there to exact justice on Curwen for killing one of the Overlord's most beloved disciples (Ashura was the mentor of Tron's son Remulus).

That's all the main stuff, I think.

---

EDIT: Curwen Sunei

For those going after Sunei, there aren't anymore twists, so whether your goal is to take him in alive or kill him, the story can take whichever turn it wants. My post today has simply exposed Sunei's true allegiances to "The Sword". For my part, I picture him going the way of Cyrus Raze in the last GJW; however, since Orian is some distance away from Antei, it may be Sunei retains his faculties and just talks gibberish. In either case, I probably won't do another post about Sunei now, so everyone's free to have at it!

As for what gibberish may or may not be going through Sunei's head, the Crawler/Darkness from Fable 3 is a fairly decent analogy, since Sunei has been jabbering about wanting to usher in some age of darkness ever since he was discovered on Inos. There's some nice quotes on the Fable Wikia article that might be worth using if anyone wanted (scroll down on the above link).

Setting up a new arc if people are interested. Malisane and NPC Soolin went to a shipping hub owned by the Organisation (the ones behind Deliverance and the rebellion, the Underworld who targetted CNS last year and the monster breakout on Aeoetheran a few years back) and both are down and possibly dead. It's quiet on the surface but below the surface we've got more of the enhanced agents, three eyed monsters and possibly a stronger Deliverance clone, plus Agent 7.

Whenever people want its there.

And all I expected someone to write was Curwen knocking out the engines... :$

If anyone's stumped for something to do before Sai/Macron/Fremoc (deliete as appropriate) brings the Black Guard's Soul Rippers from Sepros to deal with Curwen, the first thought to spring to mind is zombies.

Zombies?

Yes, zombies.

Back in the Tombs of Inos Run-On when Curwen was originally captured, he had a penchant for raising the undead to serve him... so it'd probably be a fairly simple extension to say that he's trying to turn the crew of the Reaper's Call into puppets too. Plus he possessed Aleho to kill Ashura, so strikes me as making sense.

Naturally, that'll only work on the weak-minded, which the Regulators definitely aren't, so everyone might wake up a bit dazed with muzzy heads, and need to battle the Curwen-possessed crew of the corvette?

Obviously there are probably other options too, but when it comes to Curwen, "zombies" are just the first thing that spring to mind. :P

EDIT: Another thought that crops up, if anyone wanted a bit more variety, is that someone might go a bit kooky the way Jade is, at risk of losing their marbles, resulting in a brief Regulator v Regulators fight, until said person is smacked around the head back into their senses.

Ok I have a post going but all I need are locations for whete I start and where the team id be meeting up with. Wanna get this right since I've been out so long

Xanos

17-12-2010 08:23:10

With Curwen (the bad guy) having just knocked out everyone on the Reaper's Call, I assume anyone who wasn't already on it will now be hurrying there post haste.

So, you could either be going solo, or first meeting up with Sai and Fremoc or Mac. (Sai and Fremoc were on Sepros; Mac and Jade were on Aeotheran.)

I've not read any of the new posts since last night (gotta get some real work done first!) so I'm not sure if the above are still on Sepros/Aeotheran or if they've already left, but either way: I expect you'd probably be heading to rendezvous at the Reaper's Call?

Kalei_Basai

17-12-2010 09:47:30

I actually wanted to send Kalei after Aleho because of what she did. (See what ashura said) so I just gotta know about that

Xanos

17-12-2010 10:15:05

Hmm, ah yes...

Well, Macron, Jade and Aleho had gone to the Nifokalija Mountains on Aeotheran to find and kill Curwen (who had mind controlled Aleho and forced her to kill Ashura).

However, they're now hurrying to the Reaper's Call, where the Regulators have taken Curwen prisoner.

I guess it's open exactly where you'd find them. If they're still waiting for pick-up on Aeotheran, then you'd still find them in the mountains. Or, if they're already in space, you'd probably dock with Macron's transport, the Nachzerer.

So your choice, really. Mountains, or up in space. ;)

Alright. Wish what I wrote so far on my paper I can work it in either way, thanks! (Yes I'm writing on paper, be amazed. Can't post it from work and I'm writing this from my phone)

Xanos

Paper is always good. :)

I must have filled an entire notebook in the last few months with random ideas as they go through my head. :P

Some really awesome posts all round yesterday, people! B)

Zombie killer Wookiees, ftw! :P

Thanks lol. I thought you would like the zombies.

19-12-2010 01:28:12

This'll be fun.. The crew being zombie-ish, while the regulators on board, mac and company going to try to kill sunei, Sai and Fremoc with Soul Rippers, and Kalei hunting down Aleho.

yay :P

Ok...I got lost, where did I end up? To many posts overnight, unless I just didn't see where I ended up...

Roxas

22-12-2010 14:48:08

I think you are in the bridge with the rest of us. Sunei is dead and Macron is hurt real bad.

Mirado

22-12-2010 15:12:29

Roxas is absolutely correct. You're with the Regulators and the Macron Sadow All-Girl-Revue of Doom on the bridge.

Kalei_Basai

22-12-2010 15:15:35

Thanks guys, I thought so but I was a bit lost. 5am alarms don't help...lol

Xanos

22-12-2010 18:31:44

Yeah, you're presumably on the bridge with everyone trying to heal Macron (aside from Kano and Fremoc, who are fighting elsewhere).

BTW, if anyone's been left confused by any of the imagery in my post, I basically took it that upon death Sunei's spirit jumped into Macron, and that they're locked in a battle of wills for control of his body. (If you've played Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep, you'll have a good idea what was in my head... yes, that scene. ;))

Whether Macron needs "fight" Sunei in the literal sense can go either way, really... obviously if he wants to he can.

That said, when Darth Bane tried to possess Darth Zannah, there was no actual "battle" per se, it was just a mental thing. Throw a few insults, "My will is bigger than your will", yadda, yadda. I just threw some imagery in to show that Sunei has been cut off from his source of power, so all that's left is for Macron to show Sunei the door... and that's that. O-)

For my part, I'd say that you guys healing Macron and him waking up would do it. :D

At the end of my post, where I described threads coming from everyone and wrapping around Macron, my logic was that your collective team work healing him would "pull him back", so to speak. Thus, if Macron wakes up, it'll mean everyone's successfully drawn him back from death... whereas Sunei would just be left behind, forever trapped, all alone.

Kalei_Basai

24-12-2010 08:50:59

Ok, since right now the bulk of the major stuff is done am I able to just do a post where kalei is in random thought?

Mirado

24-12-2010 14:43:49

You know, it might just be me, but I've never thought a post about a character in random thought is bad. (except maybe the ACC) It helps get a glimpse into the character, helps develop them, and all that.

Kalei_Basai

24-12-2010 14:53:49

Yeah, I was just making sure there was nothing big plot wise going on before I got home to post.

Xanos

24-12-2010 16:08:31

To echo Ven: personal posts are always good. ;)

And, no, there's not much left to do now beyond Macron waking up. Whether he just gets up, or whether Mac wants to write a duel, is ultimately up to him, I guess. But as far as this arc goes: that's a wrap. (For my part, I imagine Mac'd probably be fine with someone just writing him waking up.)

Based on the close of Sai's post, I believe the goal now is simply to finish off anything still outstanding so that the Tri-Feud can kick off in January.

Mirado

24-12-2010 16:53:24

That being said, I think it'd be good to see some character development stuff from everyone. We see what everyone's like in the midst of battle, but you know, I wanna know more about the people that make up the House of Sadow.

So, consider it a challenge. Especially for the Journeymen. Try and get a post out before the feud, sharing what they're like when not training/killing/etc.

These characters are more than roving killers, I fully believe that, and I wanna see it. Pimp slaps for the "But my character works out and trains to relax." excuse. The actors playing the Spartans and Akkadians (sp?) in the film 300 had to step down off their workouts, as it had a serious detrimental effect on their minds and bodies.

So, yeah. Consider this gauntlet thrown down. ;)

26-12-2010 22:43:08

Ok, I wanted to have this said, following my post.

I hope no one felt disrespected for me changing around the three round volley. I just wanted to give it a star wars feel, and not copy it exactly. I intended it to be a dignified show of respect, and I certainly hope that's how it's taken.

Post up. To basically explain the happenings there in a concise manner, Ven doesn't have the strength within the Force to be able to handle the kind of backlash that Mac's fury seemed to carry, so it kinda pushed him past his level of self control.

Anyhow, I don't plan on him arriving until the goings on are finished, as I didn't want to interrupt that necessarily.

Ashura

04-01-2011 03:54:23

A bit different to what I had planned to do with the clone. But that's fine, the clone can be moved to the space wreck at a later date, and Ven will be sworn to keep the clones existence a secret from the rest of the Disciples.

Nice post Ven. :)

Edit: I was going to the clone be an Obelisk, thanks to Ven it now fits into the story of his character. This is how collective writing can change what you first had in mind but help in the development of the character. Fictionally, the clone will go with that order as Ven was nice to him, and not the crazy Sith woman.

Xanos

04-01-2011 11:39:27

Post was good, Ven.

Basically, as soon as Trev and Fremoc's fight is done, the plan is to leave Macron behind when the rest of us head off. So you heading there should actually be rather good, as Macron will probably need a helping hand and/or alternative transport off-world.

Obviously he could just have used the X-wing he came in, but if you're bringing the Nachzerer that should be more fun. B)

Sai

05-01-2011 17:08:04

Ok folks...you guys are doing amazing work! I'm very proud, to say the least.

My post is the 3rd installment to the intro to the NS-TAL-TAR event; as it stands, I'm on Yridia II meeting with Shaz'air and Ronovi; presumably, I've commandeered some of the 'fleet' to escort me. Those of you who plan to participate in this feud, assume that you are in geosynchronous (sp?) orbit above Yridia II.

~ Sai

Xanos

05-01-2011 17:55:13

Are we using Unrest for the Feud then?

I figured we'd be doing something similar to the RoS, with the Run-On playing catch up after the Feud?

I say this, because I know Trev wants to be at Yridia, but obviously that's not feasible currently. :P

Sai

05-01-2011 18:00:38

We are not, Goat.

For the RO events for the Feud, separate forums will be created, much like in the last Vendetta. As such, I expect much retconning afterward, as I hope that many of you will participate in the event!

~ Sai

Mirado

05-01-2011 22:38:20

Speaking of Retconning...

Dragoon, I think you might wanna re-consider your post. I'd mentioned previously that the Regulators weren't getting involved in the trial, during Kano's funeral post I wrote.

Hit me up on IRC or e-mail, and we'll get this worked out.

Xanos

06-01-2011 05:22:16

Ah, good, good. Post Feud catch up again then. :)

Though actually... a thought does occur to me...

I suppose those at the trial could be called away to Yridia and the trial adjourned until the Rakghoul plague is addressed? That could be quite fun, as by the time people returned to Antei, Kir might already have found Aleho guity, making it imperative to find new evidence exonerating her as fast as possible, with her already on death row awaiting execution?

For the Runculo stuff, as soon as Trev finishes his battle with Fremoc (hopefully today/tomorrow) we'll be gone, so all that's left there is for Ven to pick Mac up. (Who would now have proof that Aleho was innocent?)

Depends what everyone would rather do? Catch up later, or being called away now? Obviously though, right now Macron is still stuck on a planet unconscious, so it clearly depends how much we get done in the next few days. But if we're lucky (and if Trev finishes his battle in time :$), I certainly think it's possible. O-)

And if not... as always... we can blame it on Golden Rule #1. :P

If we could manage it, though, then I suppose it'd simply mean those at the trial as well as Ven and Mac all rendezvousing with the fleet at the start of the Feud storyline? That might make an interesting dynamic... with everyone else having left with Sai a week earlier, and so the trial team and Ven/Mac all needing to be filled in (and vice versa) about what's going on?

I'm mostly just conscious of how whether Aleho is executed or not is obviously going to be quite an emotional plot development, so it may not be the best thing to have "already happened" at the start of the Feud, so halting the trial in some way might be worth it? Likewise with Ven and Mac, really, as Mac running around all healed up again might seem... a bit silly. :P

Ashura

06-01-2011 07:20:22

For the sake of good story and character development, I agree with Xanos. I still have Sakura to role play if neither Aleho or the clone can make it. I would like the clone to be part of the feud. :)

Xanos

06-01-2011 13:40:47

I'll have a chat with Trev, then, about us finishing off on Runculo.

For those of you on Antei for the trial, all it should really take is one person doing a post about a transimission from Sai, calling for all Sadows who can to rendezvous with him at Yridia?

Mirado

06-01-2011 15:10:57

That sounds good. Further, I wanted to ask...

Was there some kinda stab in a previous post about Ven's inability to heal Macron through the Force? Cause... You'd be right, LOL.

We can get this fixed easy.

Macron Sadow

06-01-2011 18:36:23

a couple things:

1. I'm inoculated to the omega-3 strain. Granted, it's a hideous bioweapon but I would live. Also, it's an old (and the last) remaining aliquot so it's probably weakened. We did away with it via the Wiki Audit.
2. Mac is quite a bit more disease and poison resistant than most humans- I'm synthetic. The downside is, I'm insane and can't live on "normal" food. Hunger is going to be a problem but there's nutrient-slop on the Nachzerer.
3. Once I regain consciousness, I'd start healing myself probably with tapas or somesuch. So although I'm not slagged, it's reasonable to assume I'd be up and around in a few days after Ven finds me.

Xanos

07-01-2011 07:25:55

Yeah. For reasons still to be revealed, I didn't really do you much physical damage... it was just you knocking yourself out with your own poison gas. You might take a few hours to wake up, but aside from a cough I imagine you'll be fine (I wanted to leave you in working order for the Feud!).

If anything, I figured it was more the psychological drama (WTF? He's still alive?!) that mattered. I doubt Sai will enjoy receiving news that -- just as he predicted -- Trev has betrayed you again!

EDIT: I'm a bit confused after Methyas's post... are Fremoc and Ven now meant to be back on Antei and Orian? That implies we've jumped into the future...

Fremoc being back on Antei is not in itself an issue, because as soon as Trev and Fremoc finish up the fight this weekend, Fremoc will be returning to Antei anyway. Mac, however, will be bringing proof of Aleho's innocence, which obviously has an impact on what Ashura, Jade, etc, are currently doing on Antei.

Methyas

07-01-2011 10:22:42

Yeah, apologies for not post here *after* I posted yesterday, it was a slip up I take account for.

My post was not designed to yank us screaming ahead to the Co-op event/feud but was sort of a staging for people that have no clue what to do with themselves. Beyond that I believe everyone should just continue with their stories until the event itself occurs next week.

Hope that clears up any confusion.

Xanos

07-01-2011 12:48:33

No worries. ;)

It probably didn't help with me catching up on the run-on this morning while still in bed via my iPad, when my half-awake brain wasn't yet ready for thinking outside the box. It took Sai pointing out to me that your scene with Ven was obviously two weeks before the scene at Yridia. :P

In any case, everything seems to have worked out in the end. :)

Couple things about my post. First off, for my non-American friends, I mean biscuit in the American sense. It read better than dinner roll when I looked over it again.

Second of all, I wanna apologize for the small experiment in my post, where I don't use a name for my subject, if it makes the reading of it difficult.

13-01-2011 14:11:09

Heyaz, folks! As you know, today is Day one of our Trihouse Feud. Anything pertaining to the Feud's RO Event will go in the dedicated space for that in Tarentum's Clan Forums.

My last post can be considered Sadowan 'canon', as it's the call-to-arms and introduces some stuff for much later on. Those of you who don't wish to participate in the feud itself should continue to develop your charaters AWAY from Yridia, on the normal Unrest thread.

Xanos

13-01-2011 14:32:03

Macron Sadow

14-01-2011 17:14:30

hey all. Currently, I am on the Miner's Brother training Ashura's clone. Aisha and Dragoon are sparring hand-to-hand, and Naiia has just entered the scene. I intend for us to wrap up traininhg and head to Yridia as a strike force to help with the Rakghoul infestation. Somewhere in there I'd like to do a holotransciever testimony in the Aleho case and then get Jade and Aleho to join us, assuming she is freed (probably in terms of service, no mdoubt). I may even bring Lanius Sin, an old apprentice into the play if I can get his permission via email.

Xanos

15-01-2011 05:07:14

I anticipate her being freed, yes...

The Justicar can, however, "just" strip one of the Force (i.e. bust her back down to APP) rather than order an execution.

That presently strikes me as a somewhat fun "middle of the road" outcome, with her neither guilty nor entirely innocent, but given a chance to make up for what happened in a suitably harsh darksider form of "forgiveness"?

i.e. "Your mind is clearly too broken to handle the pressure of the dark side... you need to re-learn what you wrongly believed you understood."

Mirado

16-01-2011 16:47:00

I like Xanos' idea. Has a good feel to it, and can be interesting later.

Following the feud, I've got a pair of arcs I want to implement, but I want to know if there's a desire for more character development time before I jump into the swing of them.

This is also a good time to mention these arcs are primarily directed towards the Journeymen, and are scaled to be challenging for them, so for the old folks, it should be a good time to get more development out of the way, or do some side work. If you're really interested in the goings on of either of these arcs though, just holler at me and I'll see about what I can do.

Kano Tor Pepoi

18-01-2011 20:56:40

Kano is dead. Why is this not still major news?!?!?!?!

Ashura

18-01-2011 21:59:14

Join the club. We've both been buried and forgotten. Well, I do have a clone. :P

Fremoc

18-01-2011 22:08:14

It has been weeks fictionally since you both died :P

Ashura

18-01-2011 22:13:56

Seems fair enough. Least people can do is name their children after myself and Kano.

Fremoc

18-01-2011 22:50:55

Teu's had two kids in two years.. I think she's had enough :P

Xanos

19-01-2011 05:54:03

I expect both Kano and Ashura's deaths will probably get more "screen time" after the Feud. It's just all been such a race the last few weeks to get everyone in position for that, I suppose.

I do have a good line in my fiction submission about the deaths though.

Ashura

19-01-2011 06:34:47

Heh. I'm not that fused, besides I might be a clip of Ashura's journey in the after life since you have established a whole different world when Xanos was rediscovering himself.

Roxas

19-01-2011 17:49:09

Jeez your dead and still you want something, just relax and feed the worms :P

Ashura

19-01-2011 19:01:37

There is dead. And then there is the Living Force. Take Xanos for example: DP and Sith Lord. At least two ranks away from GM potential. Considering it's former GM's and then the Dark Lord. An Elder would have a chance finding a way back, perhaps with or without outside help. It took Xanos fictionally 5 years and that's cause Trev knew how to bring him back.

Xanos

20-01-2011 05:51:19

Yeah, I died back in... what was it... April 2008 or something.

I figured to justify my return, I needed to wait a bit. :P

Ashura

25-01-2011 16:18:00

So due to the new rule about no NPC apprentices allowed I am having to change my plans. Ashura is alive, he is bring held captive by the Orginsation. He was captured just after leaving the Orian system when going on hiatus. The man who was killed was an agent of the Orginsation who was made it look and think like him.

The real Ashura has been a lab rat for about a year and a half. He is being held in the same place as Malisane. So I will be looking to bring him back.

Mirado

25-01-2011 18:57:20

Is that necessary? The clone isn't an npc apprentice really, he's more of a do-over. That's how I see it. Obviously the real Ashura wasn't powerful enough to put his spirit in the new body, but really, your CS is for the ACC so long as the clone is used for good fiction, I don't think it violates any rule. Besides, if you take an apprentice, you can have the Force Spirit mentor them. Besides, Alejo's story is complete, so there's no more npc force users running around.

Just my thoughts.

Ashura

25-01-2011 19:24:16

Apparently the clone is a issue. I'll use for a plot twist and finish him off.

Xanos

26-01-2011 06:10:14

Well, there's no Vexatus running around to kill you all now, so I guess the clone means you can play the villain for a bit instead. >:)

As for the rest of us... We've let this sit quiet for a bit, but apparently my Regulators don't wanna keep that habit up. I'm going to post in about a day or two involving the arc directly, so if anyone else has ANYTHING to add before I move things along, you've got your deadline.

I will be editing my post soon for continuity and etc.

Yeah Xanos, he tried to use the cover of the mess Vexatus and Shan Long caused at Lehon to escape to join Severak but was picked up by the CoJ, interogated and ended up doing a term as LHoJ as a penance.

As a note, Regulators, don't mention anything about locating Creon unless/until Jeric gives an ok, I don't wanna step on his toes.

If anyone's curious, I'm going to be doing a few posts to set up Fremoc fictionally becoming a Son of Sadow.

So, unless anyone's doing anything involving Sadow Palace, Tron, or Fremoc, you needn't fear anything clashing. :)

Just a quick post in light of today's excitement:

Note that we've just been reclanned specifically on Exodus Day, which means early in 36 ABY, whereas the Run-On is running a bit behind on the timeline in mid-35 or so. So, we'll still be HNS for a bit in the Run-On before we get to the fictional reclanning.

Nothing major, but just remember that the fictional euphoria will have to wait a little bit first. :D

Or, to put it differently, Fremoc wants to become a Sadow first. :P

At the moment, there's some Regulators action going on, but I'm going to be posting a major point this evening or tomorrow, which SHOULD clarify what's happening. If I fail at that, I'll e-mail you the whole thing if you'd like.

Ok, arc closer went up. I wanted to leave it up in the air a bit on purpose, in case we needed to tie anything else into it later.

As I'm led to understand, we'll be catching up to current shortly, but there's some time for character development if anyone's interested. Have at, and have fun!

Sweet post, Ven. :)

If I get time, I might try and throw a post together before the time hop... we'll see, I guess.

Should be good to finally catch up with the present though. Still being HNS is dull. :P

I still am not sure where to jump in at....

At the moment I imagine you can probably be anywhere, Kalei.

Mirado's just finished the slaver story off, so I think everything's just waiting now for the Summit to decide how best to move us forward to the present (as in the run-on we're still House Naga Sadow as it's not Exodus Day yet).

So, as everyone's basically just back at base reflecting on getting rid of the slavers and now just doing day-to-day training and stuff, it should be a good time for you just to slip back in with whoever you want to team up with. :)

Ok, just posted a little something. I'll be tossing some short posts out here and there kind of highlighting the construction on Aeotheran. Also, I wanted to introduce the Dakhani Corsairs. Masika and Jeric have inadvertently earned their way into this fictional order, there might be more.

If privateering isn't your thing, PM me, E-mail me, whatever, we'll see if we can't get into something. I'm very much into pointless character development stuff, which I guess makes it no longer pointless.... I digress though. Hit a Quaestor up if you like.

Nice posts last night you three.

I particularly liked yours, Roxas. Your writing's got really good recently. :D

Btw, am I right in thinking the "black tie event" was when you all gatecrashed Olhel Noona and the slavers?
