Personal Vessels

Greetings Plagueians,

I've saw a "Personal Vessels" Section on the Wiki, and I looked over the HEK fleet and saw that a few personal ships were on there. This is just a poll to see if personal ships should be allowed in the fleet. Spam if you want on the posts, just vote in the poll :D

Those ships are there for strictly fictional purposes and really only effective within the Clan itself. So if we were to match our fleet against a rival clan's fleet, for example, these personal ships would not be taken into account. So, as I said, strictly a fictional thing-- they're mostly mentioned in our ROs and fictions.

They are no real importance to me, unless you have a personal Sun Crusher in your garage, then yes....that would be worth mentioning.

I think only personnal warships(fighters, freighters and a like that have good weaponry mounted) should be taken into account...I have my T-65a X-Wing...modified with better weaponry...

offcourse its purly fictional but still i think it shoud be taken into account...

Until there is set guidelines into just what a person can "own", they should not count towards your regular Clan fleet. Why? Because the ships in your Clan have been "earned" while personal craft can be anything that a person thinks up (right now), so there isn't any real of fair way to do things. For the time being, keep your craft for personal fiction until someone gets some guidelines together for such things

Halc and I won personal ships and I dont even know if we're allowed to use them outside of the ACC lol

Well my V-38 TIE Phantom was "earned" many years ago, albeit it was in the EHDB, but it was awarded to me when I was a CON. The fact that I've continued to use it in all of my fiction additions has pretty much made it a part of my character as well. B)

But I agree, it could get pretty crazy if every person started adding their own personal ships, some of which tend to go over the top quite a bit. :P

Dismal

27-12-2006 14:39:36

there could be restrictions :P

Salth Khan

31-12-2006 07:23:11

Yeah, like not putting personal ships in at all. >:)

Dismal

31-12-2006 17:24:06

or putting personal ships in but to a degree :P

Easy solution, list it in your Wiki character profile, that covers it well enough. :P

Dismal

01-01-2007 20:50:06

ergh...just wanted to see peoples opinions

Salth Khan

01-01-2007 20:56:05

That's what you're getting kiddo. :P

Shirai

02-01-2007 19:25:04

I just plain out dont like em. Like i said before...they should only be mentioned if their uber strong. Like if u have a ISP-II or somethin like that. Or if u won your ship. Other than that, we should stick to the ships in our clan fleet.

I agree with Gala on this.

Dismal

03-01-2007 15:26:15

Okay...just wanted to see if people wanted this...which apparently they don't :P

Now you're getting it. ;)

Well my Merk-6 is pretty 'pimpin' and I believe it is good enough to be used in the CP Fleet. (check it out on the wiki under "Merk-6")

Dismal

08-01-2007 19:53:27

if the Merk-Suck can make it into the fleet, the GameRunner can anyday

Shirai

06-02-2007 20:10:08

If I see any of your ships in the air, I will not hesitate to shoot them down. (I'm very prejudice against personal vessels).

Dismal

06-02-2007 21:25:36

My Jedi Figher could uber pwn any ships your in...besides, you'd have to take orders from me in the RoS and GJW, which I'll use The Gamerunner in plenty :)

06-02-2007 21:52:06

The big problem with personal ships is that you have all these designs already out there, and more being created with every new book in the EU or through comics that flesh out the saga. It wasn't long ago that the E-wing and the Eclipse were the big dogs in the yard, and now look -- always something faster, something better on the chopping block. So adding personal ships into the Clan fleet, or treating them on the same level as, say, an X-wing or a TIE Interceptor, is rather foolish without some kind of set guidelines all around about the max amount of power, speed, maneuvering, etc. you can hope to get out of each class.

Ultimately, I say yes, but within reason. No offense, Gala, but a Sun Crusher-esque craft of any kind is pushing it.

While personal vessels in the clan fleet are ok (after all, we can't expect you to use a company TIE every time), Lorien got it right by saying that the hardest thing is making sure most people don't push it too far. Already on the wiki you can see by looking at many of the personal vessels how Korras, Kaine, and others have pointed out where people have "god-mode", more or less. Gala, that is pushing it far :P

Maybe I tripped out Eta-2 or ARC-170, but people have to realize that eventually there is a limit to these things. As long as everybody stays within those limits, I personally have no problem allowing them in the clan fleet

Dismal

10-06-2007 17:11:35

But would the DC be okay with that?

And many <3s for TIE Phantoms...too bad we only have 3 :P

And then there were 2.... :P

They should be allowed in my opininon, but hey that is just me

If there was some way to regulate it, then it would be great. As long as there was a system so that everyone who has a custom ship follows the same guidelines, it would add something great to the club. Until then... we can't let every random Dark Jedi out there whip out fighters with capital ship abilities. There's just too much chaos for it to work at the moment.

Cethgus

26-09-2008 05:20:44

And there goes my dreams of having a ISD as a personal ship :(, ;) but no I think personal vessels would be a good thing at this time. I hope to see what happens with the ships at this moment.

I'm not sure how long the personal ships are going to remain in use the way they are atm.

a couple of years ago, with the issueing of the Summer Project (see projects, guidelines on main site) the idea was brought up to bring around a money-system. For activity, medals, promotions there would be a reward in credits. For having a job you would get paid (AED, BTL, QUA, RM, CON, PCON but also for SA EP, Magistrates, Praetors, etc.). These Credits would be usable to buy custom weapons, robes, armour, ships, etc.

If this system is in use then i'd say: Yes, calculate the personal vessels in into the clan/house fleets. Because they were earned through activity and hard work, there would also be a limited choice of ships (that what is available in the catalogue). At the moment, i wouldn't count them into clan/house fleets and just keep using them only in Internal competitions/events (in clan/house comps).

Enjoy them fictionally as you will. Realize that an individual's ship is not officially part of the clan fleet... personal property is not the same as clan property.

And if you look on the wikipedia of *everyone's* personal craft, you'll notice a nice disclaimer. it reads "Upcoming changes to the DB will have consequential effects on this ship"

What that essentially means is that you'll have to do things to actually have said ship...you won't be able to just write yourself into having them as we have in the past... well, mostly because that's not terribly realistic or balanced.

Watch my reports for snippets on the progress of this sort of thing. No, I won't be giving a date or a timeframe... you'll note that whenever big projects get an announced launch date, it ends up getting missed... I'd much rather just do it right and launch when it's ready... as opposed to push an inferior project just because people were expecting it.

I knew Muz would have to get his nose into this. Typical Keibatsu.

Anubis

Not typical Keibatsu - that would involve the entire Keibatsu family writing something down about this, blah blah blah.

This is typical Muzzles.

take your time with it Muz, better a good project than a rushed one

Long story short...

No.

We have removed personal craft from consideration as fleet craft, because while everyone and their brother may have a Star Destroyer they 'pilfered' from some would-be Grand Admiral-turned-Warlord... we only are going to acknowledge craft issued from the Fleet Reset or that is awarded by the Dark Council.
