Easy one.
You can say anything that you want, be it from, "do you wanna go to the movie theater?" to "What do you think about sex?". Its not really flirting, it can be anything from joking around to simple incest, but until you see that little sparkle in her eyes that tells you that she is thinking along the same lines as you, its not flirting.
There are other ways to tell of course, say like over the phone, or the internet. It would have to be something that is said, a joke, for example, but that it said in a way, or responded in a way, that has a playful gesture behind it. Not a joke for the sake of a joke, but a joke for the sake of expressing feeling.
Things along those lines...
When do I know that I'm flirting? Well, its when I catch myself staring into her eyes as I talk, its when I see that sparkle in her eyes, that I realize that she sees it in mine. Or when she replys to a joke, and I realize that that joke was a bait to see how she would respond. Or...its simply that you know and there is nothing more to it. Just a feeling, and an expression of it.

Girls analyze everything. They see something and think it must mean this or that or the other. Like Daes Daemar from the Dragon Reborn. Not only girls... some guys too, but mostly girls. So many things can be misread or misinterpreted, that's why I think its safer to take everything as a joke until you find out otherwise.

The thing one must first understand is that there is no one standard for the "girl". One babe might dig a pleasant, well mannered guy, while another would roll her eyes at the shmuck and move along. The hopeful male must first evaluate his target, understanding what the female likes before ever stricking up a conversation (if one has the leasure).
With that in mind, a man must choose, act like what the babe wants, or act like himself(assuming that what the man's personality is not the girl's favored choice). If one chooses the former, he must keep up the charade, which is never a truly easy thing, unless one has mastered the art of acting...and if your reading this for tips; unlikely! However, it takes a brave lad indeed to act like himself no matter what. Personally, I always choose the latter one b/c I'm just so multi-talented, two b/c I'm irresistible O-) so I have no reason to fool. It goes without saying that when one chooses to act as one would, he runs the risk of loosing the girl all together, but it is always worth it if the relationship kicks off.
So saying that girls like badasses or some such thing is purly absurd...no offense ment. In short, it is always better to be yourself in the end...be that a badass or no.

I really dig guys with good manners, I'm an old fashioned girl, I like the type of guy who opens the door for you, who calls or whatever just to see how you're doing, and all that. (I don't like guys to be beggers either, that's sad) I hate guys who act like they don't care about anything, no manners whatsoever and act like rebels or whatever, it's just.. I don't know, but they freak me out lol
That's just me though, I'm sure there are lots of girls who love guys like that.
