One Year Down...

It's a neat thing to be the only Combat Master, as of yet, who is able to say that a year has passed with them in the position. Four previous Combat Masters since the ACC opened in July of 03, all gifted in one form or another, just didn't have the desire to undergo the crap that sometimes comes with the position. Nevertheless, they all laid foundations for what a CM should be and what qualities they should aspire to develop. Xizor left a legacy of a strict, uncompromising and unbiased leader - or follower if need be; Cyris molded the position into one that 'must' change with the membership and be willing to try new things (I'm still learning that one ); Gryffon established a need to be thorough in all processes, no matter the scrutiny it comes under and Alaric, the longest standing of the four, solidified a reliance on the staff; because the job as CM cannot be done alone. I, like them, am not without my shortfalls and failures - but we learn and press on. With a year down, the ACC has seen some great things; some you like, some you dislike; some you agree with and some you don't. No matter the case, the ACC has strived to move forward, taking the occasional step back, and has established itself as an unbreakable facet of the Dark Brotherhood. Who knows? Maybe a year from now the ACC will cease to be, or maybe it will be greater than it is now - no one knows. Yet, the fact remains...we are here now! I thank everyone who has taken a liking to the ACC and participated, everyone who has contributed to its growth through input and tasking and everyone who just comes out to play. I especially want to thank all of those who requested my removal the day I got hired and since - you have just made me try harder to piss you off

The Year in Review

Roster* - 329+ Initiates; down from last year - 154 Seekers; up from last year - 37 Soldiers; up from last year - 35 Combatants; up from last year - 18 Warriors; up from last year - 8 Gladiators; up from last year - 3 Knights; up from last year - 1 Warlord; no change (Arania's still alone ) Halls* - Combat Centre has had 380+ battles in the passed year alone - Proving Ground has had 260+ battles in the passed year alone - Training Annex has had 240+ battles in the passed year alone - ACCLive! has had 130+ battles in less than a year - Over 900 Character Sheets have been processed - 7 Brotherhood Wide competitions were developed and completed - 5 Clan competitions were developed and completed   *Numbers are about two weeks old.   Things That Went On... - Capture and Deliver; a competition for the Brotherhood to build the creature database - Character Sheet adjustments; the scope of weapon categories expanded to address similar weapon types - Dark Betrayal; a cooperative competition begun and left by Alaric was continued and completed - CHL Structure; CHL structure established and 1st CHL begun (11 March 05) (Vessicant was the first ACC Champion) - ACCLive!; after its renovation under Alaric and a sibling program created by JaM3z, ACCLive! is made public - PCHL established; to make use of the Pilot's Den, a championship ladder was created which awards the titles of "Ace" and "Baron" (Dark Sabre was the first ACC Ace) - ACC Rules renovated (first since Cyris' overhaul) - ACC Armory; weapons for use in the ACC was created with the idea that they be fairly insane and worth having. - The ACC returns to a policy of 'writing' after a brief sojourn into focusing on 'numbers' - ACC Initiate's Course and Test created for the Shadow Academy - Handicap established; a handicap option was added to battle challenges. Combatants can select handicaps of their opponents to make battles more interesting - Staff Changes; among the many changes to hit this year, the 'Operator' structure of the staff was laid to rest for now with a return to the Judge/Trainer structure - ORoS uses the ACC for competition with 30 battles fought in the ACC's phase - Live judges re-established for ACCLive! and structured under Kat Pridemore - P:CM dissolved; the position of Deputy Combat Master (DCM) established - Force Pool System established for the ACC to adapt to the impending RPG guidance - ACCLive! gets a CF face lift with a 1:2 ratio for CF's instead of the usual 1:3 - "Cleaning the Combat Master" cooperative competition developed and completed - Echani given over to the CoG as the approving authority - Cortosis undergoes an outright ban, save ACC Armory weapons - Second CHL underway (currently in the finals) - ACC History re-created to incorporate original aspects of the ACC's history - ACC Compendium Lightsabre Guide updated to reflect the DB Lightsabre Guide - Compendium weapon's section updated with graphics, more explosives and establishment of 'split point' policy - ACC Gules and Guidance renovated (again) to incorporate changes in the ACC

More To Come...

As some can probably guess, the above is only a scratch at the surface. A whole lot more has been accomplished, both in the ACC and behind the scenes of it. I basically just wanted to make a dent in the allusion to how far the ACC has come, thanks to all involved. If I had my druthers, this 'report' would have been a book - lucky for me (and you) I ran out of coffee The future holds a few new things that I am really excited about getting to. Things like Creatures to fight, a Dual Weapon skill, Competition Halls and more 'team' events will do a lot for getting folks from the 'same ole same ole'. There'll be more on that stuff in the future. For now though, we are primarily getting the compendium underway - as noted in recent reports. With the 'lifting' of the "rebirth" stance on the DB, the ACC can start getting the changes out in. Once all that is set - or, at least, a good chunk of it - we can get to the new, new stuff...my goal for that is through February. So, March should see some of the new things come to light.

There have been a lot of great inputs over the passed year as well, of which I have tried to incorporate or, at least, explain why we can't. I really wish I had the wherewithal to acknowledge everyone by name, but that would take forever. The Staff, JaM3z...err...the Web guys, the GM and both DGM's (Mav/Kir), Muz and Xanos for the original sabre guide, those who played in the comps, those who are supporting Live!, those who submitted for the venues; for the fighting styles; for the creatures; the "you suck" emails, former/departed staff members, the Initiates who don't quit, and anyone else who might not fall into the above spots - Thanks!

...seems like i might be the only one to post in reply to this, but anyways:

Congrats on your 1 yr! Personally I enjoyed putting up with your arrogant, sadistic, uncompromising, and all-round-general-a$$hole personality. But then again, im a smart-mouth punk that needs to be put in his place sometimes lol you know im just kidding around.

Nonetheless, Congrats again on the 1 yr. It takes a lot of character to be the CM, i don't know this first hand but I have been able to piece together some factors of your position and I have been apart of the Staff so i know what you and everyone involved in making the platform run put up with. So thanks for sticking around, despite the wh*reish-like noise some people have made.
